This is Trump & Miller's signature issue. They ALWAYS meant mass deportation and Miller vowed it'd be biggest infrastructure project ever

He got what he wanted and people fucking hate it

They may not say "mass deportation" but as long as Miller is there, it's what they are doing so keep saying it

Trump and the Coronavirus

I wrote a lot about the coverage of Trumpโ€™s response to the pandemic, and here is what was clear all along: He had no real plan to restore the country to health other than to peddle false hope, predict a quick end, adopt fake deadlines and shift the blame to others. The most urgent need was to test, test, test, and either he didnโ€™t get it or he didnโ€™t want to know the results because they would โ€œlook badโ€. The media blew its coverage by letting political reporters lead instead of health and science reporters. Political reporters paid way too much attention to whatever Trump said, such that whatever it was made headlines. They let Trump set the agenda instead of letting knowledgeable people do it. Political reporters also gave Trump way too much credit for trying. They covered up for his incoherence, ignorance, cluelessness, gaslighting, and yes, just plain stupidity. They failed to properly exploit their rare access to him by confronting him with facts and piercing his bubble. They remained complacent in the face of a massive death toll, instead of relentlessly demanding more forceful action.

History repeats itself. Remember how devastatingly incompetent Trump was during Covid? How he had no plan? And how news outlets didnโ€™t call him on it? Let me refresh your memory: presswatchers.org/category/tru...

This is the same defect in Democrat Brain that had them calling for a Social Security bonus to help seniors weather tariffs. The โ€œalways be caught caring about kitchen table issuesโ€ lobe.

No. The point can not be to make the hardship Trump is imposing hard to detect. It must be to end the hardship.

Catch up quickly. Learn some stuff.

Notes: Congress, the House & the Senate, are the only ones that can make a law. The House is the only chamber that can originate a revenue measure.

Congress can override the President.

Can I just say: As weary as you may feel, do not turn away from the degradation and desecrations, the violations and the violence. This is what the lawless Trump regime hopes--that our fatigue will make it easier for them to consolidate their power.

Bush on why he quit golf during the war: โ€œI didnโ€™t want some mom whose son may have died to see the commander-in-chief playing golf. I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best I can. And I think playing golf during a war sends the wrong signal.โ€

In 1983, Ruth Schwartz Cowan published a book called More Work for Mother where she argued that modern household tech (washing machines/vacuums) didn't reduce women's housework time, it just raised standards of domesticity. Household work is never shortened by tech & you can extrapolate that out.

The labor of cultural criticism doesn't scale - it takes close reading and the building up of expertise. You know what does scale? Grievance and rage-bait, short hot takes that platforms can monetize as they go viral. Fandom also scales.

For-profit colleges, once accused of duping students, hope to rebound under Trump The University of Phoenix expects enrollment to grow as the Education Department softens oversight of for-profit schools, despite industry concerns.

Attacking traditional institutions of higher ed while making it easier for for-profit institutions to return to the days of burdening students with debt and not-particularly-valuable degrees. Cool, cool, cool.
