Finally making good progress on the legs and feet. Had to do some prototyping since I'm using a pattern and I'm a bigger then the maker of said pattern. I'm going to make the right foot and finish the feet 1st. Then if I have time before #bewhiskered I'll finish the legs.

Working on paws. I really like the finger claws? Protogens are drawn with so I wanted mine to look the same. I tried to sew it but it was too puffy looking so now I'm trying 3d printed claws which have their own set of problems. Paint->seal->glue->stuff?->sew->shave ->repeat 2nd for hand if it works

Just finished(?) my arm sleeves. Need a few more zig zag stitches on the elastic but I'm hand sewing so I'm starting to develop a repetitive strain injury in my dominant hand. I'll be taking a sewing break until mid January after this but I really just want to get them done done.

Remember, you don't need to be a master artist to make a reference sheet. I'm not in a location to focus on a professional ref but I need to draw. when I was working on Iota's head, I only had sticky notes of body parts. Just draw. Anything is better than nothing. Anyways, heres Iota lol

It's official! My first fursuit head is done. Thanks to @furbittenstudios.bsky.social for making protogens affordable and accessible to make. Even with the kit, it was a lot of work and I enjoyed every moment of it.

I'm so close to being done. I had it all glued to the head and realized I hated how the fur sat on my neck and shoulders. After walking away and coming back the next morning, I figured out that there was too much fur. Some time you need to look away for it to click with fresh eyes

I ordered from You Toonz for the 1st time and honestly I'm really disappointed in the packaging. No padding, the bag wasn't sealed to avoid moisture, weak tape. It's shipped from China and no one thought that the ride might get bumpy? This is for a friend and I hope they don't mind the box

Testing ears colors with head colors with a test fit. So this is my first time furring anything and I'm really happy with the colors and my sewing capabilities.

PSA: when dealing with faux fur, especially when cutting, WEAR A MASK!!!!
All of those tiny synthetic fibers are inhaleable and be harmful.
And yes I actually did wear a mask. I'm really bad about safe art making but I really am getting too old for that.

I'm on fur now for my protogen. I am hand sewing all the fur for a couple reasons. I can be very precise with my stitching. I suck at using a machine. I'm insane.
Just remember you don't need expensive equipment to make stuff.
No hate to either method.

Ears are attached and all that's left is fur! Funny thing about ears, everyone draws and makes ears differently. Literally, no two images were the same. I hope mine look good.

I just had the biggest dopamine hit in my last 5 years when the realization set in that I just succeeded at a step I failed 7+ times. This is why I love a good challenge. My ADHD ass chases moments like these 🤤

FINALLY!!!! It's embarrassing how many times I had to redo one of the cheeks.... I now have to attach the visor. The problem for this is it doesn't sit right so I'm probably going to have to permanently fix it to the frame.

After many mistakes and set backs, I am a step closer. This sure has been a learning experience and now understand the prices and appreciate makers even more. I already did this but now it's ingrained in the folds of my brain along with the paint/sealant fumes, yum 🤤

One cheek done until fitting. I messed up the other one so I had to respray the black. I need to slow my roll anyways. I struggle with letting paint dry because my "dry enough" really isn't at all.

I picked a dark steel paint and holy heck, I couldn't be happier. I knew I didn't want a light silver/grey color. I was also afraid of going too dark. While I could stand to go a little darker, I don't think I'll find a closer paint then this. And the way the light catches 🤌

I'm proud to say I've made good progress on my protogen. Came up with this design for a future space corpo. I play this character in ttrpgs so I wanted the design to have to do with back story.
I'm just glad the motivation is back. Often I lose steam and never come back to a project.
