This from @marinetraffic on X is interesting. Basically, there's good evidence that someone is doing the opposite of a ghost fleet: spoofing fake ship signals to make it *look like* there's Strait of Hormuz crossings happening when there aren't.

Some ships might be turning off their transponders and going for it. But by watching who gets near to Hormuz and who reappears on the other side, we can get a bit of a picture and it's not good. This is not "the Strait is open", as Trump and his supporters are claiming.

If gender were the immutable biological reality they claim to believe it is, they wouldn't need to spend so much energy policing it like this.

Why Isn’t Trump (Even) Less Popular? There are two reasons.

Trump's got about 39% support right now. How is that possible?

two things:
1. fascism has a constituency
2. partisanship is powerful

I talk about both at some length here. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/why-isnt-t...

Dr. Oz says Obamacare enrollment may be β€˜too high’ Even as the top official for Medicaid and Medicare claims millions may be falsely enrolled, the Trump administration is urging younger people to sign up for high-deductible ACA plans.

There’s no such thing as too many people having access to healthcare. Everyone should have healthcare.

Killing Kids in Iran While Kids in the U.S. Go Hungry - The American Prospect For the money the U.S. is spending on war with Iran, it could be covering food stamps for 41 million people or Medicaid for 16 million people.

Food stamp recipients, laid-off autoworkers, ICU nurses don't want war with Iran. I talked to workers who are horrified by the US-Israeli bombing of schools, hospitals, homesβ€”and outraged that we're spending billions of public dollars on war while people in the US go hungry.

How We’re All Now Paying the Price for the Myth of Trump’s Competence The administration’s war with Iran is setting a mountain of taxpayer dollars on fire every dayβ€”mostly because he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

The man is, whatever his other faults, just way in over his head. Maybe Democrats should say that more often. The fact that he’s costing taxpayers a billion dollars a day on a war most of them didn’t want may be a good place to start. trib.al/oQGYMWP

This is amazing.

When the government kills a crucial report, independent scientists decide to write it anyway and release it outside of government channels.

That’s science serving society, even when our political leaders don’t.
