Just paid the stupidity-of others tax. Never had measles as a kid but no problem bc we wiped out measles long ago. Until enough of us enacted a policy failure and brought measles back. Today I got the shot. A tax paid in $, time and hassle. The stupidity tax doesn’t just fall on its practitioners.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life fighting for equity and justice. He taught us that even in the face of intimidation and discrimination, we must never stop working towards a better future – a lesson that feels especially relevant today.
One small thing I hope comes out of this nightmare is at least renaming the Department of Homeland Security. “Homeland” is not a word Americans use. It sounds like a translation from Heimatsicherheitsabteilung.
Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.
