Examine.com
Examine simplifies nutrition and supplementation — through meticulous analysis of the latest scientific research — to help answer your questions on how to be healthier.
It’s akin to how search engines can be manipulated through SEO techniques, making it crucial to be cautious about the sources we trust. I use Examine.com and Supp.ai for nutritional supplements, Consensus.app for scientific studies, and John Snow Lab's Medical Bot for health research.

This is an eye-opening article which reveals that even a tiny amount of incorrect info (like 0.001%) can skew the accuracy of AI responses on medical topics. This is a serious concern! Many rely on LLMs for health info without realizing the potential for misinformation.

Deanna Dikeman - Leaving and Waving
For 27 years, I took photographs as I waved good-bye and drove away from visiting my parents at their home in Sioux City, Iowa. I started in 1991 with a quick snapshot, and I continued taking photogra...
“Leaving and Waving”, by Deanna Dikeman, is a poignant reminder of the passage of life and of impermanence.
It is particularly touching for those of us who live in a different country, and for those who have gone through the pain of bereavement.

Turkish Airlines was not helpful either: despite assurances of extra legroom, I was crammed at the back of the codeshare flight. No wheelchair support on the airplane either, forcing me to navigate on crutches. 😵 2/4

I’m thrilled to get my hands on this new book. It will be my Christmas gift to myself! 🤩
I’ve been fascinated by this perspective applied to meditation since reading @rubenlaukkonen.bsky.social and Slagter’s paper, which is one of my favorites ever since:

You’ve got this, Matt! Go get ‘em 30K’s!
I’m currently in rehab after an ACL review surgery + ALL reconstruction + meniscus suturing a couple of weeks ago, so my goal is going back to running in months 3-5 and restarting trail running by months 10-12. I’ve got a long way ahead of me.

Scientists Establish the Best Algorithm for Traversing a Map
Dijkstra’s algorithm was long thought to be the most efficient way to find a graph’s best routes. Researchers have now proven that it’s “universally optimal.”
In my experience, Waze is generally more accurate in predicting ETA than Google Maps, though both are far from ideal, especially with changing traffic conditions. I never use Apple Maps, BTW.
A new algorithm might shift the entire app landscape. Interesting news:

Association between genetic risk of melatonin secretion and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
Sleep problems are common in individuals with ADHD; however, the exact underlying mechanism is unknown. I Data from the Lundbeck Foundation Initiative…
“These findings suggest that children with ADHD diagnosis/symptoms may struggle to maintain their circadian rhythm due to a disrupted melatonin secretion system.”
Is this not a chicken-or-the-egg situation? Melatonin disruption ↔️ ADHD?

Bingo. E com a concentração de riqueza crescente e a diminuição da classe média desde a década de 1970, agravado pela transição do sistema econômico devido à tecnologia, à “Uberização”, agora intensificada por soluções de IA, não há solução fácil. E aí, populismo, nacionalismo, aquela coisa toda…

I’m not sure why the general working hours per week for Brazil are listed as between 41-47, when in reality they are 48 hours. However, this range facilitates a comparative analysis between countries. For more information:

Interestingly, a quick search about OECD countries showed that almost all of them limit regular labour to 5 days/week.
Brazilian industry leaders and most congressmen & women have voiced their concerns about lowering the limit from 6 to 5 days/week, as if that would cause the economy to fail. 🤨

In Brazil, one of the main current public debates is regarding changing the law to limit workers to regularly work up to 36 hours per week, 5 workdays per week.
Currently, the limit is 44 hours per week, with 6 workdays per week.
Ironically, I found this on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/Adulting/c...

9/9 As Brazil debates gambling regulation in 2024, remember: it’s more than betting. It’s about society balancing faith, hope, and risk—whether through prayers or wagers (or both!).

8/9 Recent studies show some Brazilians spend more on gambling than necessities. That allegedly include recipients of Bolsa Família and other government assistance programs in Brazil. Likewise, some may prioritize church donations over other expenses—both acts of betting on brighter futures.

7/9 Data reveals overlaps: neighborhoods with high evangelical church presence often have strong betting networks. Both act as support systems, blending seemingly opposing worlds.

6/9 Why do Brazilians gamble despite restrictions? I’d say due to cultural factors: risk-taking, colonial lottery traditions, and hopes for divine intervention—the same force filling churches.

5/9 The paradox: evangelical leaders condemn gambling as sin, yet both churches and gambling share parallels: “divine lottery” (blessings) vs “lucky break,” tithes vs bets, faith vs luck.
