Here is the list of programs that ED effectively seeks to move to other agencies. Many higher education programs will go to the Department of Labor, but the most obvious move (Federal Student Aid to Treasury) is not happening at this time.

and at the end of the day, no SPP to capture representative, real-time data & questions. no current plans for US participation in the 2028 ICILS to measure computational thinking & digital literacy skills. and still no NCES.
my first thought was - is School Pulse Panel back? But no, an informal NYT survey and district questionnaire (!). (1/n)
The #FriendsofBLS has posted FAQs which explain what is likely to happen with reagrd to BLS data collection and releases. both during and after the shutdown.

My latest is the story of how my community has rallied to protect and defend our neighbors in recent days, as ICE has targeted the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. "This is not a story about a moment of victory, but a moment of being reminded of our power."
For NCES (ED), ESRA outlines the data required for collection & dissemination, with some leeway for additional data needed for COE reporting (e.g., longitudinal studies)

and COE (necessarily) made great use of federal data, from ED to Census to CDC and more, all from statistical agencies required by law. Even more in jeopardy now.
Another statistical agency, like NCES, also required by law.
follow all this ππ» and email your union!
Reports of more RIFs at ED and other agencies incoming. My heart goes out to all feds who have gone through hell this year, are already worried about making ends meet with the shutdown, and are now facing illegal employment actions. again.

In the past 4 weeks in Chicago, ICE/CBP have snatched hundreds of people off the streets & homes, shot & killed a single-father in his car, smashed & abandoned countless cars, and deployed chemical munitions at protesters, journalists, & now on public streets. Today they cuffed an alderperson.
By my read, the only way for a university to comply with this compact is to gut their social sciences, arts, and humanities, and a good chunk of their sciences, too.

I just left my last Blaine Elementary LSC meeting. It is important for me to work locally in addition to federally, and Iβm so proud to have served as a community member for the past three years. I learned so much from the dedicated parents, teachers, principal, and student reps. #weareblaine
