One of the urban myths about ring-necked parakeets in London involves Jimi Hendrix.

White blossom, probably blackthorn, against a clear blue sky.
It's beginning to look a lot like Spring. I think this is blackthorn blossom.
View from the Sandgrounder hide at RSPB Marshside.
My current view.
Apart from the obvious E-Type, the Mk 1 Escort. (And Jimmy Nail's Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth in 'Spender'.)
I might be imagining this, but wasn't Tina the vocalist in 5,000 Volts?
โ
That's the spirit!
Considering how very poor Liverpool have been tonight, a one goal deficit going back to Anfield is probably not the worst of outcomes.

A European robin (Erithacus rubecula) in side view, perched atop a post.
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #SideProfiles and the Alt theme is #Robins, so here's a two-for-one.

Two wading birds silhouetted by the light and reflected in the water's surface.
The theme for today's #BirdOfTheDay is #StandingInWater.
Gone for a bit of an arty one today. Two waders which I think are probably redshanks; bills a bit short for godwits.

He's such a tidy player, very calm on the ball and a bit of quality, too. Not many opportunities in midfield just now, though.

In case anyone isn't aware, tonight's game is on BBC1.

Gomez to score and Ngumoha hat-trick. (Would be nice.)
Carp aren't born that size. ๐
I'm not familiar with the fish of the area, but if the water's clean enough for the carp, there will be other species.
Male Eurasian chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) perched at a feeder.
Female Eurasian chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) perched at a feeder.
For today's Alt #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Finches, here are a male and a female chaffinch on a feeder at RSPB Leighton Moss the other day.

That gig was the root cause of so, so many band formations.
I let lucky that morning. ๐

Pair of Mandarin ducks hanging out by the river this morning, apparently playing a game where they copy each other's pose.

It's a ๐ฌ๐ง robin. See ALT text.
A Eurasian robin perched on a moss-covered branch, singing. They are very territorial and this is how they warn off competition.
For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme of #ShoutItOut, here's a robin letting rip.

To paraphrase the late Mitch Hedberg, "What if lapwings just are blurry?"
Wide shot of a small island in an inland pool. On the island are five cormorants, two greater black-backed gulls and a swan. In the distance, three swans have their heads and necks under water, feeding on the bed of the pool.
Group shot from yesterday, posted more for interest than image quality. On the island are five cormorants, two greater black-backed gulls and a swan.

Adult coot being followed by three chicks.
Now you come to mention it, yes, I have.

Google Lens says it's LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin.
Common or Eurasian coot (Fulica atra) swimming on the surface of the water.
I don't usually bother much with coots, as they are just so common and plentiful. So much so that I didn't realise they have scary red eyes.
