The United Space Alliance Technologies company deployed the station Ialos in orbit around earth 412 years ago. After the events of the GAEDI-10 emergency event, outgoing radio signals have ceased and the station is assumed non-functioning. Ongoing investigations by the New United Empire of Humanity have been tabled indefinitely. Bottom Right Paragraph 1: Ialos remains to be a grim reminder of the failure of the Global Defense Union. The brutal public execution of the old emperor lit a fire under a still loyalist solar system, and Ialos was the first of many stations of command to fall in the brilliant nuclear fire Her Royal Majesty Octavia Sol Arctus wrought. Her decision to leave the station in this derelict state is a warning to would-be defectors to New Solar Union - all will fall in line, or perish. Bottom Right Paragraph 2: Should the backup reactors continue to run, crew still in long-term storage will remain within recoverable parameters for another six hundred years, barring intervention or other anomalous event.

The Space Station Ialos was a gem in the crown of the Global Defense Union, and an important target in its eventual demise.

A spindly mech, holding the detached shoulder mounted firearm of an enemy mech as if it were a rifle. Text is displayed around it, in order: Top Left: A mech with a fearsome reputation. Designed by ex-USAT machinist Mordred Astworth for the loyalist special forces, who eventually became the Imperial Honour Guard. In spite of its spindly appearance, the mechanism stands around twenty-four meters tall. It eschews the use of any hardpoints, instead opting for a rarely used subsistence combat style. The Praetorian was the first machine to have true artificial intelligence, and involved a live connection to the pilot. Each member of the Honour Guard has a fervent, pseudo-religious love for their machines, and the couplings of each Praetorian are respected—and feared. Should a Pilot lose access to its mechanism even temporarily, it is highly unlikely to continue living. Recouplings are rare. Top Right: Throughout her reign, Her Royal Majesty Octavia Sol Arctus established total peace and resettled Earth; after the events of her rise had rendered it a wasteland. She led humanity for sixty-four years, before rebelling forces associated with the old union overthrew and assassinated her. The assassin was an ex-member of the Praetorian Honour Guard. The few remaining Praetorians live in exile. Bottom Right: This mecha is shown having recently destroyed a Global Defense Union mech, using its advanced computer systems to operate a severed limb's shoulder-mounted hardpoint. An extremely small number of Praetorians were ever created, and each was made for any pilot that displayed conscious compatibility with an Artificial Intelligence, alongside other Honour Guard Aptitude markers. Two Praetorian mechanisms were made with the capacity for Fusion, either temporarily or permanently merging scavenged machine parts to their body for use in the field. Below this is the title, Praetorian, and a small detail of various tags for it.

can it be honest and cast aspersions over the whole "ai makes your brain deteriorate" shit? cause like. idk about that. what part in the transaction is doing that. Is it the talking to a machine thing? cause there's people out there that probably have the same effect as an AI chatbot does.

like, it's never going to take a pro-ai stance, because it's nuanced. it's a nuanced topic that demands thought. but arguments against ai need to stand on a basis that is founded in some kind of material fact, instead of in what feels like continuous pseudo-science and vagueries.

AI as it stands is not good enough for its purposes. It likes the craft. It likes the function, the skill, the ego of it all. Notice how it managed to say that without bringing up a "human spirit" or "quality"? One of which isn't real, and the other of which is subjective to the party interred.
