I’m closing in on 40 and yet the scene where her dad tells her that she’s going to Sarah Lawrence always makes me cry.
I “slept in” til 3am last night and woke up with a migraine that I can’t crush.
It definitely helped! She didn’t seem zonked, but she was very “please leave me alone”. And for her? That’s huge.
Welp - this vet visit just set us back $750. I love our cats, but WOOF that hurts.

Maybe the hardest thing to remember in adulthood
We’re home from the vet and Spicy Kitty did SO WELL! The vet said that she was very stoic, but didn’t hiss or growl. She got vaccines, some bloodwork, *and* had a mat combed out that she wouldn’t let us touch. She’s lost so much weight! Now she gets tuna as a treat.
The dueling banjos experience of driving in a lane that’s ending, so you have to merge, but both your car and the car next to you are old enough to have antique plates and have obvious rust patches. Who’s gonna blink first?
Inspired by this post: who would have been the most insufferable philosopher on Twitter? My money is on Nietzsche.
Getting her in the carrier was actually easier than Baird - he gets too excited and doesn’t want to go in because LEASH TIME! Bonnie tries to curl up like a rollypolly bug and she’s slow, so I can plop her in and zip up the bag before she’s uncurled.
It was about two and a half because we’ve got back to back appointments and I wasn’t sure which one they wanted her for. Hopefully it kicks in - I’ve never actually seen her mellow before!
We’ve given Spicy Kitty gabapentin in preparation for this afternoon’s vet visit. Let’s see if it actually works on her? Pray for the poor vet who has to try to give her her physical.
Also, let’s talk about how many active duty families are on SNAP. For how many of these folks is a Surf and Turf dinner a *massive* treat that they would never have otherwise? And as every veteran I know points out: that lobster? Means you’re about to get sent into the shit.
I almost never get insomnia, so those few times it happens, I’m the world’s most dramatic bitch. Currently on day two of less than 3 hours sleep and I would like to send flowers to all my friends who deal with this regularly.
A cat sits on a dresser that is next to an open window. He is gazing intently outside.
Baird is getting a special weekday showing of his normal Saturday morning cartoons. It’s too nice out to leave the windows closed.
I used to think that I was a Dom(me) until I realised that it was just my desire to say to men “I didn’t give you permission to speak.”
This was so perfect that I’ve been thinking about it ever since the game yesterday.
Truly we’re failing our own selves.
I’m on like day four of not having a little sweet treat in the house when I want one and I’m not even sure what the point of being alive is.
Thinking about all the times my mom told me that I had to have a vegetable with my spaghetti and meat sauce because there needed to be a vegetable in a well rounded meal. And how I didn’t clue in to the fact that tomatoes and onions go into that meat sauce until I was well into my twenties.
It’s the first day above freezing in weeks, so the line for the car wash was RIDICULOUS. We still waited in line for it though cause our Dagne deserves it.
I used to joke that I was going to start assuming everyone is bi and enby and use “they” for every person until I’m corrected, but I’m starting to think I should just do it already.
“Well, since I don’t have a husband, I don’t know.”
I fuckin hate this shit. Spouse is RIGHT THERE and SO EASY!
There is absolutely no fucking reason for the Block Island ferry’s jingle to sound vaguely Caribbean, but it does? And I will NEVER forget it apparently.
No one informed me that there were horses in TNG and I think that’s a failing on all sides.
Also, now I want to go riding with Picard. Because those are *ideal* conditions.
FUCK YES! We just used up the last of ours, so perfect timing!
I truly don’t care which one as long as we pick one and stick with it!
My mom’s mom’s parents were both alive until the early 2000s! A couple others were still alive when I was born, but died soon thereafter before I really knew them.
Thank you!
