i love the fact that the late ‘60s to the early ‘80s were a pretty bold time in experimental animation. from visual effects to foley effects, people were not afraid to try new things. i don’t think we’d have stuff like ‘yellow submarine,’ ‘the phantom tollbooth,’ without stuff like this.

A series of unofficial Garfield comics I made in a really old Garfield comic-making program. "Asexual Cat" by Dim Javis PANEL 1: Jon is reading a book, and says to Garfield "GARFIELD I'M READING THIS BOOK HOW HOW TO MAKE YOUR CAT NOT GAY" PANEL 2: Jon turns the book to Garfield to show him something, and says "FILLER AUDIO." Garfield thinks "I AM ASEXUAL" PANEL 3: A mouse or rat or something shows up, which startles Jon. The thing is holding two ridiculous human-sized gloves on sticks and says "DOES SOMEBODY NEED A "RAT-JOB" IN THIS HOUSE?" PANEL 4: An awkward pause. The same exact scene but nothing is being said. Jon is still in his startled pose. PANEL 5: The animal runs away, frightened. Jon's pose and expression shift a little, he's just shocked and confused at the whole ordeal.

"Slapstick" by Vimm Dajis PANEL 1: Garfield is whimsically walking outside. PANEL 2: SPLUT! He gets a pie to the face. PANEL 3: A second Garfield is revealed to have thrown the pie, and is laughing at the first one, who is all shaken up and walking in the direction of the second. PANEL 4: The pie-covered Garfield is now running towards the laughing one, who is none the wiser as his eyes have been closed PANEL 5: They get into one of those cartoonish fight clouds that represent a lot of fighting going on in the form of a cloud, as seen in cartoons. Point is, they are obscured by all the commotion. PANEL 6: The fight cloud has disappeared and we can see that the two Garfields have now become two Arlenes. PANEL 7: Arlene #2 thinks "AND THAT IS HOW YOU TRANS YOUR GENDER"

This is "The Best Thing" by Pim Famous PANEL 1: Jon says to a pair of dentures "OH MY GOD CAINE." The pair of dentures says "WELCOME TO MY FANTASMICAL DAMN CIRCUS" PANEL 2: Jon says "HAVE I EVER TOLD YOU HOW-" but gets cut off by Caine, who has brought a small disgusting creature into the room and says "YOUR ADVENTURE IS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS FUCKING THING" PANEL 3: Caine poofs away, and Jon just hangs his head, done with what the universe has to offer. PANEL 4: Garfield shows up, with his name appearing on the panel, and squashes the creature with a newspaper. He thinks "EW." Jon is unfazed and remains in the same pose. PANEL 5: Garfield thinks to Jon, who still hasn't moved "YOU SHOULD BE SHOT"
