Good morning from the only place on earth where you can cut heath insurance for 17 million people, still somehow add $5 trillion to the debt, and call that a big accomplishment. π

If you are trying to keep up with Trumpβs tariff strategyβ¦ there is no strategy.
This aged well. Unfortunately.
If Nancy Pelosi decides to run again, challenging her in a primary, from either the left or center, would be a profoundly stupid use of time and resources.
We save democracy by defeating *Republicans* in the midterms. Thatβs the assignment.

Louder for the people in the back: Members of Congress shouldnβt be trading stocksβperiod.
My Trust in Congress Act will ban it once and for all. Letβs get it passed.
π¨ JUST wrapped an urgent press conference on Trump & Muskβs plan to gut the Department of Education.
Fewer teachers. Bigger classes. Less funding for RI schools. Unacceptable.
The richest people in the world cannot be allowed to cut education to pay for their tax cuts.
Not even six hours apart.
Most of the critical minerals that we need for cell phones, medical devices, laptops, & more are found in developing world countries.
Yet another reason why Trump & Muskβs cruel dismantling of USAID is just plain stupid.
Watch my @naturalresources.bsky.social hearing remarks: youtu.be/Akzgwu2lAYc
A lot of this happening.
Just wrapped up emergency meeting with RI environmental leaders in response to Trump & Musk illegally cutting off funding.
They are waging a war on affordable clean energy, threatening local jobs, the environment, and the planet's futureβbut weβre fighting back.
Donald Trump is letting the richest man in the world rip away food and medicine from the poorest kids in the world.
Yesterday, we tried to get into the US Treasury to find out what Elon Musk is doing with the peopleβs money and data.
We were locked out, but this is just the beginning.
The people deserve transparency and oversight.

Update: I and dozens of other Members of Congress were denied a meeting at the US Treasury today.
But while we were trying to get in something awesome happened.
Thousands of people began filling the streets. Americans are not going to let Elon steal their money and data.
Heading to the US Treasury with @JasminForUS to ask for a meeting with the unelected, unvetted Elon lackeys who have taken control of the Treasury payments system. We need answers.
Despite Marjorieβs best efforts, 80% of Congress voted to fund USAID.
President Musk has no legal ground to shut down an agency Congress overwhelmingly voted to fund.
FBI agents being purged just for doing their jobs and investigating the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol.
Elon Muskβs lackeys with no vetting demanding access to classified info.
The Senate needs to bring Kash Petel and Pam Bondi in for additional public questioning before any votes.
Donald Trump threw the country into chaos this week. People have a lot of questions.
Time for us to do another βAsk Me Anythingβ on Instagram.
Submit your Qs now. Iβll answer the first 10 tomorrow morning.
Told you.
100% yes.
Literally the first thing the federal government is required to do in the Constitution
Trump and the Billionaire Bros said their funding freeze wouldnβt include lifesaving aid. They lied.
If the freeze is not reversed immediately, thousands of people including children will die for no good reason. Trump needs to end this madness now.

They are back-tracking because we spoke up. Good.
But make no mistake: their OMB memo ordered a freeze of *all* grants. The Medicaid and SNAP portals went dark. Head Start providers couldn't draw funds.
This was not a coincidence. It was their plan. And they screwed up bigly.
President Trump just released an extreme and illegal order to freeze all federal funding for transportation, education, disaster relief & more.
Where are House Republicans? Waking up after having a big party at the Trumpβs Doral Resort in Florida.
Talk about being out of touch.
The same thing we do about all the bad policies heβs pushing. Sound the alarm and win the midterms.
But the moral of the story is, when Trump says he will do something, take him at his word.
And yes heβs serious about taking over Greenland, Panama and Canada. Thatβs a thread for another day.
End.
Thatβs what this is really about. Are you a CEO or a foreign country with a sovereign wealth fund and want to be exempt from tariffs?
Pony up some money to Trump Family Enterprises and all things are possible.
So,when Trump talks about doing big tariffs,he means it.
What do we do about it?
13/14
Third and most importantly, Trump likes tariffs because he alone will get to pick winners and losers.
Presidents have broad authority to raise and lower tariffs unilaterally.
That means Trump can exempt industries and countries at will. The perfect opportunity for corruption.
12/14
The second reason Trump and his billionaire bros like tariffs is *because* they are a tax on working people.
They want the whole country to be like Florida, where the rich pay no income or estate taxes and government revenue comes mostly from a high sales tax that falls hardest on the poor.
11/14
We should work hard to bring back more American manufacturing jobs, but targeted incentives like those in the Chips and Science Act, are a much better strategy than broad based tariffs.
But regardless, for Trumpβs political purposes tariffs *sound* good.
10/14
Unfortunately itβs not that simple. The world has changed.
While US manufacturing employment is a fraction of what it once was, manufacturing output is actually at a record high.
Most manufacturing job loss is actually due to automation not trade policy.Hard to turn back the clock on that.
9/14
So why does Trump want big tariffs? Three reasons:
First, politics.
Trump wants people to believe that his tariffs will bring back manufacturing jobs.
The US lost a lot of these jobs after free trade deals were signed in the 90s, so bringing back tariffs means bringing back jobs right? No.
