For my experiments with the Altair Mini, I made this (ugly) circuit to have access to ±12V and a voltage regulator for 5V, because the Doepfer doesn't deliver that. Are there modules for that, accessing all voltages plus delivering 5V? #synthsky #eurorack #altair

Yeah, this post was also shown to me by the "Almighty Algo". The question was sincere, maybe they like keyboards and guitars. And yes, Eurorack can appear rather technical from the outside, but once that is mastered, you can express yourself like on any other instrument. Not soulless at all.

One of the next steps should be to control the running program via cv to increase or decrease the amount of pulses (= density). And it is blinky blinky and has lots of switches, so it fits quite well in the modular synth universe, haha

Added a protoboard to my extension unit. Intercepted the LED cable from the "LED Output Register Card" to feed the signal of LED 0 into an optocoupler (using a 74HCT244 as a driver). Wrote a simple MBasic program to implement what is called the "Euclidean Rhythm" in the synth world. #synthsky
Next steps: Have more than one output (waiting for more optocouplers) and improve the program to handle 4 more outputs. Allow phase shifting between outputs by moving the patterns by x steps.
News from my Altair Mini journey: The basic Euclidean algorithm works in MBasic and the value is shown on LED 0 of the LED output register card. I've also "hacked" the LED ribbon cable and put a 74HCT244 driver in there and an optocoupler, which I'll test next.

I was in her free pre-course, too. It was interesting and helpful, but (obviously) it was only about very basic stuff and I couldn't judge if topics like "motivation" and "approaching a new song / session" would have an important role. Technical stuff I can learn, coz that's what I do ;-)

(2) Will use it for my Altair Mini. But it might also be useful when uploading new firmware to a Eurorack module. It might not work though, as some modules use external power for sensing the connection. It worked for my Altair :-)

(1) Found this USB power blocker on Amazon if you want to use the power supply and connect your device via USB. Yeah, a stripe of tape will also work - but I really enjoy this.
There are a lot of "data blocker" adapters out there, but only few that block the power: PortaPow USB Power Blocker
A dedicated setup is nice. No moving around after playtime :-)

Ah I remember that some of those A list artists sold courses called master classes. Is that still a thing? Havent seen any ads for these recently. And yep, it's definitely pricey. I wanted to hear from ppl who took that course. The website is an awful mess, its price only appears on the 2nd page
That's a rather harsh assessment without having tried any course. Yes, manuals, free videos, talking to experienced modularoids and experimenting might get you far, but a more structured approach might also have its positive attributes?!

Have any of you fine modular folk taken her course? $697 is quite steep. I really enjoy her free and interesting videos on YT, but I'm not such a fan of her bleepy noise music.
