A side story is there’s a ton of insider trading on these prediction markets. New accounts making hundreds of thousands on their first and only trade, that maduro would be ousted. Seems like insider trading is legal if not encouraged on these platforms

Springer Nature retracts, removes nearly 40 publications The dataset contains images of children’s faces downloaded from websites about autism, which sparked concerns at Springer Nature about consent and reliability.

Holy CRAP.

Retired engineer takes random pics of *kids*, without consent or attribution, bins them into “autistic” or “not autistic”, and uploads that “data” for free on Kaggle.

Well over a HUNDRED papers are published, 38 in Springer Nature, 25 in IEEE, using it.

And no reviewers objected? WTF.🧪

I just got the notice that all the FlyBase people at Harvard, including me, will be laid off on October 12. I'm devastated.

The biologists Gabriel Giger and Julia Vorholt recently rigged a microscope with a bicycle pump to puncture a fungal cell and force bacteria inside. It’s the first time biologists have produced a heritable endosymbiotic relationship in microbes in the lab. https://buff.ly/3W53kwy
