In 2026, I want to do more of this! Top of my goals is to collaborate--hit me up if you want to work something up for a jam! I am also slowly working on taking the best ideas from “Haunted Houses” and “Ghosts” to make a small game, maybe deck based? If that sounds fun to work on, hit me up!

For the TTRPG Bookmark Jam, I created the Evocative Bookmark of Hasty Tomes (maustoleum.itch.io/the-evocativ...) which is tables for coming up with strange and wonderful books. It’s silly!
In a flurry of activity near the end of the year, I entered 3 jams. I hacked two @granthowitt one-pagers together to make Everyone is Ghosts (maustoleum.itch.io/everyone-is-...). Not sure how playable it is, but again, I think there are some seeds there!
Then I made By An Angry Sea (maustoleum.itch.io/by-an-angry-..., a hack of a small part of Between the Skies by Huffa @nervousfog.bsky.social) to create anthropomorphic creatures rebuilding on a rocky coast. Only a few pages but I had fun making it and it basically works.
For the TinyWorldJam, I made a zine: All Houses are Haunted Houses (maustoleum.itch.io/all-houses-a...). This one works better in my head, but there are some interesting ideas in there about co-creating a particular kind of environment (opulent but abandoned, rooted in history and yet fantastical).
One thing I did more in 2025 than any year before: I wrote table-top role-playing games!
Caveats galore: they’re only bits of games, haven’t been playtested, and might not make sense outside of my head.
And yet! I created some things and enjoyed doing it! Here are those things:
when I was in college, a part of our university's graduation requirements had a community service component that they called service learning. one of my service learning classes involved work at a local homerless community center, helping people write resumes and cleaning bathrooms. our instructor told us to expect to see the bathrooms trashed a lot - like you will clean the bathroom and immediately someone will wreck it.
and it's not because they disrespect your work or don't value having access to clean bathrooms or whatever, but because of control. when you feel like you have no control over your life or your environment, your brain is going to want to assert control however it can. which results in thrashed bathrooms. it's control exercised over one small part of your environment that you still have the power to affect.
i see kids on tumblr using the language of social justice as cudgels on people who actually do care about and listen to them. or holding the creators within their own communities to an impossibly high standard that they never apply to mainstream media properties.
i just see thrashed bathrooms. 'These are the people my voice actually reach,' they rationalize, 'so these are the people I'll hurt'. but the guiding principles of social justice are aimed at correcting and dismantling systems. stop using them to dismantle people.
