megachurch model busted. cool pastor model broken. it is time to rediscover the divine ecstasy of manifesting stigmata while preaching to woodland creatures during a 40 day fast reduces you to a flame-faced feral oneness with God.
C’mon, that’s a London tube station, not a ballplayer.
Found in Chicago.
i wrote a paper in my college class on the french revolution about how so many schools of history portray the revolution as the nearly inevitable outcome of long term trends in france when i think the truth is it was the highly improbable product of a cascade of micro-level fuck ups by Louis XVI
i don't care about any arguments against this. right now the sum total of my political advocacy is: crush the Republicans and make them pay. i don't care what comes after because until we do that nothing better is possible.

Thousands of sandhill cranes fly in and gather on a plain at sunset in front of a misty brown hill.
Thousands of sandhill cranes fly in and gather on a field to forage.
The Monte Vista CO crane festival is spectacular. I took these two shots at sunset last night. Tonight I'm giving my highest elevation keynote so far!
They're going to write books about all the big brain moves of this gang of imbeciles and among them will be "Spending a year trying to kill renewable energy and then launching a war that sends oil prices soaring"
If we survive this kakistocracy we really are probably going to have to completely rebuild the entirety of U.S. IT infrastructure

and also (for those of us who grew up in more popular evangelical circles in the US) it's always worth a little revisit to consider how the "heroic Christians" of WWII (like Corrie Ten Boom) are presented as the only model for the era, instead of the country of Christians running the camps
this is not a dunk on us, though we may deserve them. this is just to say: it's maybe not very wild for a Lutheran pastor to say "oh yeah, those Lutherans are fascist". to be a liberal member of these churches in the modern context is to be permanently aware of what the church did, how it "looked".
something that doesn't come up in the US awareness as much (due to a lot of Presbyterian/Baptist/Methodist/Episcopalian heritage) is historical awareness of what your church would look like if the country went fascist.
this is not a problem that Lutherans or Catholics have, to put it lightly
A photo of Martin Luther, then text reading: 404 Error “I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess” Unfortunately the page you are looking for is one of those things Martin lost.
