It gladdens my heart when education professionals accept that there’s plenty we can learn from other sectors. And obviously there’s lots that others can learn from us. If we only ever look inward we limit our ability to find creative solutions to challenges.
My Grandad fled from Poland in 1939 & never saw his parents or 2 of his brothers again. He wasn’t sure what happened to the brothers as they were in East Germany. The internet is criticised for many things but today I found this - his “little” brother.

Great session on Teacher Recruitment & Retention at the #Lab24 hosted by PLMR. Good to hear from Leora Cruddas Tom Rees Freddie Whittaker & others. I wrote an article last year about “talking up” the sector if we want to encourage the best to join. I was pleased to hear other colleagues agreeing.

Contribution and impact definitely need to be emphasised. We also need to find a way of ensuring staff who decide that they’ve reached their preferred “rung on the ladder” but who perform to a high level continue to feel valued.
