Me in @crikey.com.au today:
Albanese leveraged high profile young women to build his reputation as a leader who "got it". Now those same women tell me they feel the trust is gone, they've lost their patience and believe the PM's mask has slipped.

oh cool, we're at the "I have this knot of anxiety in my chest which I can't do anything about because it's entirely due to the overall geopolitical situation" stage again, nice, happy Monday everyone

It took two hours for Albanese to declare support for the latest US/Israeli war crimes.
How long has it taken the Labor Party to consider raising the rate? To halting fossil fuels? To seriously address the racism to First Nations and Muslims?
The ALP in your head is long dead.

Lobby groups hold over him. He has the majority. He could say fuck it and do real good. But doesn’t. He’s seduced. And that scares me and makes me angry and makes me sad and also galvanises me to vote differently next time for sure. Listen to the people, not the lobbyists.

He is an institutionalised career politician. His motivation is power - just for the sake of having power you know. I’m really disappointed in this leadership. And really for the first time I’ve truely looked into it and, naively on my part, I just didn’t realise the strength and sway certain /2

We now see you for what you are. The three war parties: One Nation, the Coalition and Labor who have never seen a US war they don't want to back in. Millions of Australians disagree with you. They want a government of principle, they want a government of peace.

Why Labor Does Not Support The War: Crean - AustralianPolitics.com
Text of Opposition Leader Simon Crean's Address to the National Press Club arguing the ALP's case against Australia's involvement in the war in Iraq.
On days like today it's worth reading or listening again to Australian Opposition Leader Simon Crean's 2003 response to Prime Minister John Howard's decision to plunge Australia into conflict; the false war against weapons of mass destruction. #auspol australianpolitics.com/2003/03/20/w...

The US and Israel are bombing Iran. Anyone reporting it as “preventive” is engaging in propaganda, by definition. There is no interpretation of what’s happening as anything else than a crime.
You don’t have to like the Iranian regime to understand why this is bad.
