The conflict across the Middle East is having a devastating impact on civilians, and pushing other crises further from view.

My interview with BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg on why this is a moment for cooler heads.

We have mobilised full humanitarian response across region and will meet this moment.

But humanitarians are being asked to do too much with too little, while politicians pour oil on fire and boast of spending billions on war while aid budgets are slashed.

87 days since we launched our plan to save 87 million people in 2026. Next week, we will share the top supporters so far of this prioritized lifesaving plan.

There's still time to step up. The momentum is growing.

Back in New York, updating Ambassadors on our humanitarian response to global escalation.

Plus dialogue on progress of Humanitarian Reset. We've become leaner and more localized – delivering on reforms we set out. Grateful for continued trust, backing and ideas.

Humanitarian fallout from escalation in Middle East is increasingly daunting.

International law is best protector against vicious cycle of violence and war. Humanitarians will hold line, and continue to save as many lives as we can.

A stocktake of the crisis and our response:

Great engagement at Switzerland’s #ICForum2026 in Geneva.

This isn’t a moment for retreat. The humanitarian system must be defended and strengthened.

We fight back by standing firm on our values and principles. And we fight back by focusing on what matters most: saving lives.

I saw the impact of aid cuts firsthand. Injured civilians walk for days to reach care – only to find medicines running out.

Local health teams work around the clock to save lives. But funding gaps mean even hospital generators may not keep running.

We can change this. #SouthSudan

Local communities are always the first responders, sharing what little they have with those forced to flee. But it is not enough.

In Malakal, Akobo and Juba, people told me the same thing: #SouthSudan needs peace β€” and many need food, shelter and support now.

As fighting spirals in South Sudan, a humanitarian crisis looms for displaced survivors Fighting has resumed in South Sudan eight years after a fragile peace was agreed. The conflict has caused the displacement of 280,000 people and widespread civilian casualties in the past two months i...

I saw children with gunshot wounds, separated from their families or parents killed.

This isn’t just one story in #SouthSudan – it’s one of thousands of people bearing witness to this preventable conflict.

The fighting must stop. My interview with @apnews.com.

Kool arrived with gunshot wounds, found beside his mother who was killed.

Medics in Akobo are helping him heal. We hope he will walk again.

He survived. Many have not. Governments must show solidarity and back responders like @icrc.org

In Akobo, South Sudan I met people newly displaced by violence – children who have lost entire families, persons with disabilities and new mothers. Many fled with nothing, pushing those who couldn’t walk in wheelbarrows for days.

Urgent support is needed. We're ready to deliver.

Productive meeting today with President Salva Kiir in Juba. He committed to ensure unhindered humanitarian access across South Sudan so lifesaving aid can reach people in need and humanitarian workers are safe.

Lasting change requires the guns fall silent.

In Jonglei State, I visited Akobo County Hospital, where doctors are working flat out to treat people injured by fighting.

Those I met with gunshot wounds included an 18 month old child and a 70 year old grandmother. Civilians should never be a target. #SouthSudan

Arrived in #SouthSudan and travelled directly to Malakal.

Met communities living through years of displacement, as well as families forced to return due to the war in Sudan.

They want peace – but people also need support now to rebuild their lives with dignity.
