I am proud of the work we accomplished this session, and looking forward to taking our next steps together towards the Oregon I know we can build. #abetterOregonispossible #orpol #orleg
loved this quote from Senator Pham: “I believe in inclusionary zoning as a mechanism to economically integrate neighborhoods, not as a tax on all new housing.”
Now that I have some desk time, I'm going to expand this into a brief thread to lay out the basics of the proposal that we discussed today for spending this unbudgeted housing money.
🎉 Celebrating key bills from our democracy defense agenda crossing the finish line today! I was proud to chief sponsor the Strengthening Patient and Provider Privacy Act (HB 4088), Protect Your Door Act (HB 4114), and Anti-Discrimination Protections for Immigrant Workers (HB 4111). #orpol #orleg
It's a start! Thanks to the over 200 Oregonians who took action last week to testify or write to the governor's data center advisory council last week to make your voices heard! Because of your actions, we were able to win this 1.5 yr moratorium on data center tax breaks.

New reports are more than 100 Iranian schoolgirls are dead after Israeli & US bombs hit their school as classes began.
These fascists want you to believe they are the good guys for mass murdering Iranian children.
They were children. In school. And now they’re dead because of Trump & Netanyahu.
By waging war on Iran, the president is making it more likely that other countries will develop nuclear weapons—to protect themselves from the U.S. trib.al/cifN57t
Trump’s bombing of Iran is reckless and a direct threat to American and Iranian lives. Launching military strikes without congressional authorization or evidence of an imminent threat is not strength. It is an abuse of power.
Tell your Members of Congress to put an immediate stop to this war.
US missile strikes are unconstitutional and unjustified. Congress must reconvene immediately to adopt the bipartisan War Powers Resolution, prohibiting unauthorized military intervention in Iran. I pray for the safety of the people of Iran and the region, many with family ties here in Oregon. #nowar
CNN reporting that the strikes on Iran tonight are joint US and Israeli strikes.
Which means Donald Trump should be impeached for a third time.
What he has done tonight is illegal under the US constitution and the UN charter.
They are trying to drag us into war now.
We needed a vote on @rokhanna.bsky.social’s War Powers Resolution last week. Instead the war hawk caucus of the Dem Party delayed it, and now it may be too late.
I too think more networks should run "pro-America content" like handy explainers on the constitutional limitations on the president's powers and the independence of Congress
Thank you Salem high students for showing up strong for our communities, our families, our neighbors today! I can't think of a better way to end a week that brought important parts of Oregon's immigrant justice package forward. Take action at the link in my bio. Sí, se puede! #orleg #orpol #iceout
The Washington Post's description of the bodycam video of his arrest last year, and the translation of Mr. Shah Alam's comments, is gutting. Remember, he was entirely blind in one eye and could only see three feet in the other, and he spoke virtually no English.
He spent a year in jail for this.
Not that I know of ... Would be good to share that with the advisory committee!
Oregon can encourage tech investment while insisting that companies pay their fair share.
Let the Governor's Data Center Advisory Committee know what you think should guide our state's policies around data centers by sharing an email or sharing testimony at their first meeting this Friday:
I reported last week that the TriMet decision to build BAT lanes on 82nd Avenue was conditioned on others outside the agency raising funds to pay for it.
This is the first example of that playing out...

Please join me in asking the legislature to help fund full Business Access and Transit lanes on 82nd Avenue.
Oregon, I hear you loud and clear. NOW is the time to make sure Oregon legislators hear your voices of support too. Take action to protect our communities from ICE violence, submit testimony, and send your emails here: https://loom.ly/2kwctyI #orleg #OrPol
Excellent work from excellent team. And let's be sure to not bury the headlines here: coral reefs are GONE. Beyond 1.5°C we should expect >90% dead. North Atlantic currents very vulnerable at this temp. These are potentially v fast tipping points that could cause havoc with weather, farming. 1/5
Six years ago, Ahmaud Arbery was jogging. That was enough to be a death sentence.
We remember his life, as a constant charge to continue the fight for justice, humanity, accountability, and an end to the poison of white supremacy.
Today we celebrate Alysa Liu, Olympic gold medalist and daughter of a political refugee who came to the U.S. seeking safety and opportunity.
Refugees strengthen our communities — as neighbors, leaders, and even champions.
When we invest in belonging, we all rise.
See you tonight, District 1!
Can't make it to an in person open house, view the online open house and take the survey here: www.portland.gov/transportati...
Yesss...Excited to work together. I hope you can share your thoughts at this Fri's 1st Data Center Advisory Council mtg. It's important that the general public and leaders have a voice in shaping the policy recommendations coming out of our state's first Data Center Advisory Council.
Great to see this. My -2 amendment to HB 4102 requires community benefits/labor agreements to grow the skilled and trained workforce if companies like Amazon want fast track permitting done by 3rd parties. Bill is up for a WS in Senate E&E on Monday 2/23.
