Text of a prayer: For the Peacemakers O THOU Prince of Peace, seal the lips of the fomenters of strife, the sowers of discord, and the makers of war. Grant that those in authority and the news writers and commentators, may use their influence to awaken feelings of good will. Inspire us to be peacemakers by expressing through our lives love, joy, peace, and long-suffering, that there may be no room in them for hatred and strife. Forbid that we should cry "Peace! Peace!" when there is no peace. Matt Thy peace within us overflow into the lives of others. For Thy name's sake we ask it. Amen.

I found this little prayer book at a book store clearance sale, and this prayer seemed timely.

I wonder what WW possibly has to fear about his boys being minorities, except that he fears they would be treated as he treats minorities.

I'm forced to the conclusion that a certain type of pro-Israeli Western Christian doesn't actually see the place as real, and certainly doesn't see the Christians of the Middle East whose lives have been made much, much harder by the policies they back.

It's just a sort of apocalyptic theme park.

Call me crazy, but instead of arguing whether to stay in Standard time or DST, wouldn't it be simpler to move the clocks a half hour, thereby splitting the difference?

I hate my proficiency at changing tires. On the one hand, I'm glad I have the skill. On the other hand, I've perfected the skill because I've had to change too many fucking tires.

It's the first anniversary of my grandma's death, so I'm going on a private retreat. But first, I'm showing my son a Judy Garland movie (Summer Stock) because my grandma and I shared a deep love of her movies and music.

A UNLV game ticket from 1982 and a very old coupon for Downy user as bookmarks in the Commentary on the American Prayer Book at the section on Ministration at the Time of Death.

One of my favorite things is finding random objects as book marks in my used books. I used to have a copy of War and Peace that just had boarding pass stubs for flights back and forth between Detroit and Rome. Anyway, I found these in my copy of the Commentary on the American Prayer Book.
