one of my favorite shows of 2024 π₯Ήπ
@enchantedval
French-American performer based in Brooklyn, NY. researching Ruza Wenclawska (rememberingruza). I love reading and learning new languages. Probably at Suffs, or library, or coffee shop with a book and a cup of tea :)
one of my favorite shows of 2024 π₯Ήπ
The Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical goes to... Three Houses!
well at least we get the three houses cast album soon π
Hi theatre friends! I want to read one play per week this year, please let me know your favorite plays, and I'll choose one to read each week!
I'm truly so incredibly grateful for Suffs, and all the gifts it's brought into my life π₯Ί
huge moment for this girl who's obsessed with Ruza and who's also a Monica fan and a Kim fan π€β¨π
Ruza's bio in the Online Biographical Dictionary of the Woman Suffrage Movement in the United States has been updated thanks to @enchantedval.bsky.social and me! documents.alexanderstreet.com/d/1011146165
yayyy have so much fun!!!
π€π I mean, we were all sitting so close to each other, we might as well have been!
It was excellent!!
This is your reminder to get a library card. They have so many services and basically all of them are free.
Hills of California was so. good!!! Loved it!
It is quite funny that when Haley and I go see a show that's not Suffs, we end up being sat near some cast members lol
they can't take a break from us, even on their day off π
Oh yes! I've seen that one! hehe that's cool!
omg which one?
a black and white cartoon with several scenes of local Scranton residents reacting to the 1915 suffrage liberty bell tour, including a goat with a votes for women banner tied to its tail, a woman painting a windmill with suffrage slogans, a politician making an embarrassing speaking mistake, and the local post office decorated for the occasion. At the center is a caricature of Rose Winslow, tall and thin wearing a floppy hat and loose fitting dress, labeled "the cyclone orator of the cause.""
Half-length portrait of Rose Winslow/Ruza Wenclawska, wearing dark jumper and white blouse, with dark tam.
Ruza Wenclawska/Rose Winslow "the cyclone orator of the Cause" is the central figure in this 1915 political cartoon featuring events during the women's suffrage liberty bell tour visit to the Scranton, Pennsylvania area. Notice she is wearing the same outfit she wears in her most famous photograph.
also still thinking about the September 19th performance of August 26th 1920. like, that was really for me, and that was an insane thing to happen
and maybe I haven't moved from here. so what?
taking the lyrics of August 26th, 1920, and really holding space with that π
was geeking out at the nypl today!!!! saw the edition of the Suffragist with Ruza on the cover!! and all the other issues from volume 5, and it was very cool

Wednesday's Weather Rating: 7/10
IT WILL RAIN IN NYC TONIGHT!! A pleasant start, with highs in the upper 50s and partly cloudy skies. Increasing clouds and showers expected tonight, at long last. The vibes are alright!!

Ruza Wenclawska/Rose Winslow appearing in the 1913 silent movie "What 80 Million Women Want" produced by Unique Film Co in partnership with the Woman's Political Union.
Ruza is the woman on the left in the back of the car! We see her quite well at the end of the clip!
I went to see Suffs in New York a couple of weeks ago and was really taken with suffragist Ruza Wenclawska. I was disappointed with the lack of biographical info about her online. No one even knew when she died! So here's the result of my research so far. medium.com/@JanetLinden...
unfortunately a lot of you don't know the implications of that "look me up" in my life, or my obsession for that line, but I'm sure you'll find out very soon
(September 19th performance π«Άπ»π forever in my heart)
ask if I ever get nostalgic like you do β¨
I fear the next few weeks are just going to be me thinking of all the memories made at Suffs π₯Ίπ
I highly recommend listening to this episode!!! It was such an interesting conversation (and Kim may or may not have mentioned me, my Ruza research and Ruza Instagram which is still one of the coolest things ππ)
open.spotify.com/episode/3zfL...
was about to reveal how many times I've seen Kim Blanck as Ruza Wenclawska in Suffs, but a lot of you still think I'm a chill and normal person π€ anyway, y'all have 7 more weeks to go see Kim say "look me up"
looove Alice by Heart πππ def listen to Octet - such a special and beautiful musical!!
