ooh, Halo 2 almost ended up on my list as well! Apparently we're the minority, but it's easily my favorite Halo.

Ooooh, Transistor almost made my list. π― Sometimes it feels like Supergiantβs forgotten game. π
Legit the last two spots were difficultβ¦ guess I just like Sad Dad simulators? π
Tales from the Borderlands feels like a deep cut! π I had so much fun playing that with my wife, swapping decisions and laughing our butts off.
The Eldritch Lorecast is LIVE at 7pm ET / 4pm PT on Twitch this week! Recording time is shifting due to Daylight Savings.
Sorry for the lack of a heads up! I'ma be honest, I would never have realized if @shawnmerwin.bsky.social hadn't cast Legend Lore for me. π¬
Thereβs something kinda liminal and 80βs sci-fi horror about your red & white game table and Necron armyβ¦ and I am here for it! π

"No, that's not AI art! Rakshasa's just have backwards hands," I've had to say multiple times now. π
A magic item such as the Cloak of the Bat also specifies you "cast Polymorph on yourself", so is magic twice over. First for being a magic item and second for casting a spell.
But Wild Shape is neither of these things? Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Wild Shape uses the Shape-Shifting rule from the glossary of the 2024 PHB. So does every Lycanthrope stat block. Can a Lycanthrope Shape-Shift in an Anti Magic field?
The Polymorph spell uses the Shape-Shifting rule as well, but that is explicitly a spell.
Settle a debate: Can a Druid Wild Shape in an Anti Magic field?
Consider that Wild Shape is not a spell or a Magic action and does not include the word "magically" within its description. It's a 5e Class Feature and therefore mechanically the same as Second Wind or Rage. Are either of them magical?
A painted fantasy miniature of a white frocked banshee, known as a Noonwraith.
A Noonwraith from The Witcher: the Old World⦠one of my favourite monster designs since encountering one in White Orchard (11 years ago, yikes!), and an absolute classic early quest in The Witcher 3!

I kinda agree.
In D&D I was real skeptical to the goblin creature type change until getting reacquainted with their pre-Hobbit mythology where they're more akin to house sprites.
... would you accept gauss dakka? Because that's on my WIP shelf!
Yessss! You could argue vyrkos vampires are kinda werewolf-like (I have a Vargskyr this was almost a test model for), but a dedicated, primal Grand Alliance Destruction werewolf army would be sick!

It's the werewolf mini from the Witcher: The Old World board game.

I agree! Though I've played DA:O and DA:I, I don't have a deep love for DA lore. So even coming at the Veilguard as a slight outsider, wanting the world to drag me into it, the game just couldn't keep me motivated to play.
But this differentiation between the Study and Search actions helps adventure writers decide what checks to call for when creating pre-written encounters.
Of course maybe you could argue a Study action could be used to Investigate a library's index system to find the right book. Players are always free to create solutions to problems that make appropriate use of their character's skills.
For example, a Perception check might be needed to Search for a hidden door. But an Investigation check might be needed to Study the door for traps.
An Investigation check might be needed to Study a book for a hidden code. A Perception check might be needed to Search for that book in a library.
5e 2024 gives us a very simple way to now differentiate Investigation and Perception; is the character taking the Search action or the Study action?
In other words, is the character looking for clues? Or have they found a clue and are examining its meaning?
One of the MOST satisfying Session 0's I've run in a long time, because when establishing the world's lore I did the least amount of talking.
Let your players build the starting village, themselves! ποΈβοΈ

We couldn't be luckier with one of the most passionate people in the TTRPG industry joining the Lorecast as our new regular host! π₯³

The Lorecast will sadly never be the same again! Real bittersweet vibes. π
