The #GASB has voted to approve Statement 105, Subsequent Events - in my opinion, a significant improvement over the existing standards, which are over 50 years old and never intended for governments. The substance is essentially the same but they are much easier to understand.

The #GASB posted a document for public comment, Severe Financial Stress and Probable Dissolution Disclosures, proposing to replace the standards for #goingconcern with separate evaluations of “severe financial stress” and “probable dissolution.” Here is a thumbnail sketch of the proposal.
GASB marked its 40th anniversary in 2024 by issuing five documents, a significant uptick in its activity since the pandemic. Its recent achievements offer valuable insight into what to expect in 2025.
