Data exploitation is a big part of the UK's contribution to the Rubyn Obs. If #UKRI /DSIT doesn't act NOW, cuts will hit just as the scientific return is available...
➡️Fewer UK people working on data
➡️Reduced UK international leadership
➡️No return on investment... 🧪🔭

I don’t really want to be witnessed talking to the catbirds or hugging the old black oak tree. I have my way of praying, as you no doubt have yours.

A glorious mess of almond twigs covered in open white-pink flowers with dark pink centers. Bright blue sky in the background.
I am very much in love with my almond tree at this time of the year. 😍🌱

View from our bedroom window of hills, fields and a rainbow.
The excitement of seeing a rainbow outside because it means the sun has momentarily poked through the grey.
A small bouquet featuring one peachy pink fluffy rose in a small gold vase with stems of alpine strawberries, yellowing Italian parsley, and golden feverfew foliage. On an oxidized metal stand against a green wall.
🌱 A playful posy to celebrate the first 'Jude the Obscure' of 2026.
A large shallow ceramic bowl with multiple flowers floating face up. They are shades of purple, pink and white with yellow spiky centers.
Closer up of a deep purple 5-petaled flower with yellow stamens standing up in a circle in the center
Closer view of a white blossom with some bites chewed out of it and a chartreuse center
Some double petaled blooms in pink with dots of darker maroon spreading out from the center.
Hellebore season! The slugs are obviously finding them popular as well, but it’s a small price to pay to have blooms in midwinter. #bloomscrolling 🌱 #flowerreport
Photo Bruce McCandless during an EVA, this time much closer to the shuttle. The Earth below him is sky blue and covered in clouds. Space above the Earth is black and featureless; any stars that would be visible are washed out by the bright surface below. McCandless is in his white, clunky spacesuit with its reflective copper-colored visor and a large, blockish maneuvering unit on his back.

STAC needs to explain this outrageous statement. What are they thanking Trump for? He proposed a devastating #NIH 40% budget cut & a 15% cap on overhead costs. Congress listened to us & rejected them.

Pruning is the "secret sauce" for a brilliant hibiscus! 🌺✂️
Think of it as giving the plant a fresh start. Cutting back tells the plant to focus its energy on vibrant new blooms. It's lovely logic: prune today for a stronger tomorrow. 🌱✨

Coffee with my Bestie on Friday was at a local Garden Centre where there was a huge display of Mimosa (Acacia dealbata) in full flower. My Bestie who is from Oz was sorely tempted but managed to resist.
