I went to a K16 "AI summit" during which the K12 teachers excitedly told me that they let students use AI on assignments and then they have a district-paid AI thingy that gives feedback on the assignments and i said "then why even have schools" and they didn't understand the question

I want to shake every person at my workplace who sends out an Exciting! Announcement! about how they've adopted some shitty tool to do the work their staff are doing, but worse. Always with the undertone, "What choice do we have?" Just... don't?
Next year, the EU will require cars to have buttons & dials -- not just touchscreens -- to get a top safety rating.
This is a great move. Drivers can fiddle with knobs & buttons without taking their eyes off the road, but they can't do that with touchscreens.
