13/ Maybe, just maybe, Kiyoomi wouldn’t mind him so much
12/ So, Rintarou stayed close. He didn’t touch Kiyoomi again, but he sat beside him, stacking his blocks, letting Kiyoomi watch. Minutes passed, and Kiyoomi’s tense shoulders loosened just a little.
10/ But Kiyoomi just scowled harder. “He touched my hair.” As if that explained everything.
11/ Rintarou giggled again. Kiyoomi was funny in a way he didn’t mean to be. He wasn’t like anyone else Rintarou had met so fussy, so serious, so… lonely so cute.
9/ Kiyoomi huffed again, crossing his arms. His father sighed. “Kiyoomi,” Mr. Sakusa said in a firm voice. “Don’t be rude.”
8/ Rintarou only giggled. He wasn’t used to people rejecting him. Love had always come easy for him, so Kiyoomi’s reaction was… funny. “You’re so grumpy,” he said with a lazy grin, inching just a little closer
7/ Kiyoomi’s face scrunched up instantly. He swatted Rintarou’s hand away, a little huff escaping his lips. “Don’t touch me,” he muttered, glaring at him like he had committed a terrible crime.
6/ Rintarou crawled closer, tilting his head. Kiyoomi tensed immediately, his grip on his father’s sleeve tightening. But Rintarou wasn’t deterred. He reached out, fingers brushing against one of Kiyoomi’s soft curls.
His big dark eyes scanned the room, wary of every person who got too close. Rintarou, meanwhile, sat comfortably on the floor, legs sprawled out as he stacked blocks. He wasn’t looking for company, but he noticed Kiyoomi watching him.
5/ They met as toddlers at a family gathering. Kiyoomi sat stiffly in his father’s lap, arms crossed tight over his chest, curls slightly damp from the heat
“I only want Mama.” His words were a silent plea for the comfort he could never have again.
Kiyoomi’s face twisted with a mixture of anger and confusion. He didn’t understand why his father didn’t just leave him alone. “I don’t want anyone else!” he whimpered, his small voice breaking.
One day, Mr. Sakusa tried to hold Kiyoomi, his arms open as he knelt beside his son. “Kiyoomi, please. Just for a moment,” he urged, but Kiyoomi stiffened and shook his head violently. His tiny hands pushed against his father’s chest, trying to create space between them.
4/ Kiyoomi, however, was fussy and grumpy. He hated being touched, hated being held by anyone but his mother. Now that she was gone, he screamed at anyone who dared come close. His tiny body was always tense, and nothing seemed to comfort him.
He made sure Rintarou never felt alone. Maybe that was why Rintarou never worried too much because he knew someone would always be there.
