i honestly didn't realize that it took coco THAT long? it felt overnight.
I really want to see her play Pegs.
She's done the ranking rise virtually without Slam points. It's crazy impressive. That's straight up consistency.
For reference:
Coco was ranked No. 313 on July 1, 2019 and did not break Top 10 until Sep. 12 2022.
Mirra: 293 at start of 2023, Top 10 on Feb 2025.
Winners tonight: Vicky Mboko, Jannik Sinner, Joao Fonseca, teenagers, joyful ๐ง๐ท and ๐ฎ๐น fans, tennis. Losers tonight: Indian Wells crowd management -- rich loudmouth bros in the Sinner - Fonseca match, shockingly bad attendance for Mboko - Anisimova.
"Call some place paradise, kiss it goodbye..."
Pretty good, Jowow. PRET-TY good.
joao fonseca nearly did a manslaughter on that court

This court 2 situation is a bit of a disaster. Mostly empty stadium for a match with two top 10 players?
So it's just an "oopsie, so sorry besties?!"
Didn't the tournament actively promote them playing doubles when Venus' singles wildcard was announced? Beyond strange
Vicky Mboko just routined Amanda Anisimova 64 61 to make the Indian Wells QFs. Sheesh!
She'll get another shot at Aryna Sabalenka, who beat her at AO 61 76 in January.
Golden opportunity missed for #Fonseca to win the tiebreaker and the first set. #Sinner did not particularly play well, but knew not to avoid errors the last 5 points, wins it 8-6 (from 3-6 down).

It's all popping off -- Jannik Sinner is fighting off Joao Fonseca and wants to fight idiot tech bros in the crowd. Vicky Mboko is steamrolling Amanda Anisimova but has a mid-term tomorrow. (I made that up.) Tennis is HAPPENING. ๐พ๐ช๐ฅ๐ฅ
There is a man at the ACC tournament screaming Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls while Stanford tries to shoot free throws
"Let's see what's coming."
nah that's unc and auntie now
These kids.
Joao Fonseca absolutely holding hisown vs. Jannik.
Vicky Mboko with a break up on Amanda.
1 - Since 1990, Talia Gibson is now the first Australian to reach the quarter-final in her maiden Tier I/WTA-1000 main draw, and the youngest overall since Elena Rybakina in Wuhan in 2019. Wow.

And Fonseca's match is at 10p in Brazil, which will draw a lot more viewers than if his match was the final match of the day (midnight in Brazil).
10. This obviously isn't rocket science or secret sauce. But it's always a good reminder to, before you all nuts over scheduling, you have to sit and do the math, as it were.
9. Oh, and the other annoying (sorry) consideration is doubles. If a player is in doubles and has to play two matches in one day, then they're just not going to have a lot of flexibility since the unwritten rule is singles before doubles. That messes with scheduling more than you think.
