This is a post in praise of our repairer Peter!
One of our youngest visitors on Saturday was a boy with a toy figure whose legs had become detached. Peter was able to put them back in place. The boy was delighted with the result (as was Peter, judging by the photo π).
We had another super session on Saturday!
We'll be sharing some photos, stories and stats over the next few days. First, here's a model steam train that was partially seized up. Jim used some sewing machine oil to release it. The owner provided a length of track to test the train on. Look at it go!
If you want to run or help at a new Repair Cafe and meet others who are interested, come and find out how to get started.
All Welcome. Lunch will be provided while we chat!
Some of the Wirral Repair Cafe team will be heading to WEN on 17th March to share our experiences about running a Repair Cafe and to offer support to anyone who wants to set up another Repair Cafe on the Wirral.

Our monthly Repair Cafe events get so busy that our volunteers don't have chance to get their own items fixed. So today we held a session just for members of our team.

The Restart Project hopes to have 100 MPs signed up to the Repair and Reuse Declaration. At last yearβs event almost every MP that attended said they were there because theyβd heard about it from a constituent so we would really appreciate your help in spreading the word.
The Restart Project are holding another Repair Cafe at the Houses of Parliament, following on from last year's event.
Some of the Wirral Repair Cafe volunteers will be there to help show why repair matters and to call for the government to support policies that make repair and reuse more accessible.
As we tend to get busy, repairs are limited to one per visitor per month. Visitors are also asked to make sure any items brought to the Repair Cafe are clean - no mud, grass, sawdust, grease or food debris please!
We'll be offering all these types of repair:

Costume jewellery
Electrical appliances

We had a total of 37 items brought for repair, of which 16 were fully repaired, 10 needed advice, and 4 required new parts.
We'll be back at Birkenhead Library on Saturday 7th February, 2 - 4pm. Pop the date in your diary!
