In Solidarity with Myanmar: Stories of Continuing Struggle for Peace and Democracy with Debbie Stothard of ALTSEAN Burma Start: Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 9:00 AM GMT End: Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM GMT Event Type: Virtual A virtual link will be communicated before the event. In 2021, Myanmarβs military carried out a coup dβΓ©tat, overthrowing the civilian government. In the aftermath, communities across the country faced massacres, airstrikes, and deepening poverty amid a collapsing economy. Civilian leaders were detained, including Aung San Suu Kyi, one of the nationβs most prominent political figures. Five years later, the junta has moved forward with an election in which its allied parties dominate. Meanwhile, public resistance continues across the country. We seek to highlight the ongoing efforts of the Burmese people for peace and democracy.
