A social media post featuring two tweets. The first tweet by Anne Applebaum states that every book published in the United States is sent to the Library of Congress, and mentions age restrictions for using the reading room. The second tweet from Acyn quotes a reporter asking why the president fired the Librarian of Congress, followed by a response addressing concerns about actions taken regarding the library and children’s books. The background includes the White House press briefing setting with a lectern and flags.
People who never read books now in charge of books.

Illustration by Chris Riddell showing a librarian helping a child to read a book, with the caption "LIBRARIANS CREATE THE READERS OF THE FUTURE"
If we care about the future of our children - we need a library & a librarian in every single school, to help every single child find the books that will make them lifelong readers! Libraries & librarians create the readers of the future! #libraries #librarians #literacy

It's a good day to be a New Jerseyan.
PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law Monday to prohibit public and school libraries from banning books in the state and to enshrine protections against civil and criminal charges for librarians who comply with the law.

Education Is Key to Fighting Disinformation on Social Media
In our interconnected modern world, education is critical in the fight against disinformation.
My new piece for the New York Times, where I make the case that we need a lot more education to deal with disinformation, not more censorship and fact checks

We need to keep talking about how weird it is for people to think they should have a say in reading choices for anyone's kids but their own. You're not in charge of what other people's children eat or wear or when they go to bed. Why on earth would you get to choose what they read?
