Finally a day with some sunshine at Chew Valley Lake. Not a lot around sadly, but the Drake Ring-necked Duck showed well in Herons Green Bay #UKBirds

Take it you got the Bonellis mate? Cliff said it was really difficult to see!
A return visit this morning, to Chew Valley Lake, turned into a good move, when the 1st Red-necked Grebe since 2012 was found. A Summer plumaged bird tooβ¦.sadly stayed too distant for decent pix. But, when the Spotted Sandpiper lands right in front of you, it eases thatβ¦#UKBirds
No probs mate, glad to help
Nice to see Brian Thompsons Spotted Sandpiper at CVL today. Mine wonβt be the best shots of the day, but still chuffed to get some. Congrats again Bri #UKBirds

Spent Sunday morning getting cold, & a little wet at times, waiting for the Durleigh Res, Whiskered Tern. Which it didβ¦sadly every close pass, had a very Grey βyuckyβ sky behind itβ¦so didnβt really get what I was hoping forβ¦.#UKBirds
A quick drive out to Chew after work today, paid off with the Drake Lesser Scaup showing well in Herons Green Bay, before being flushed by a fishing boat #UKBirds
Today I finally got around to visiting Cheddar Reservoir, to see the 3 Black-necked Grebes, that have been around for a while. All 3 are at different stages of coming into Summer plumage. They all showed well. #UKBirds
This Saturday 15th, I only had the morning to do some birding, so decided to go to Parkend, Forest of Dean, to see the Hawfinches, after failing last weekend, as it was too busy.....success this time, with 9+ Hawfinches showing really well......including a Female with a ring '6T'.... #UKBirds
Just a little catch up. Sunday 9th I decided to try again to see the female Kentish Plover on the beach at Burnham-on-Sea, it was 5/6th time lucky. I had only ever seen it at extreme distance on Stert Island before.....she showed pretty well too.....at last #UKBirds
A cold but sunny weekend, which was nice for a change, meaning some nice light, but sadly not too many goodies. So was well happy to get theseβ¦.Black-necked Grebe at Chew, & Spotted Redshank at Catcott (just before the light went) #UKBirds
Green-winged Teal today at Catcott Lows, Somerset. Showed wellβ¦.#UKBirds
A couple of friends asked me to share this oneβ¦.so here you go. Slavonian Grebe, from 27th Dec 24, from Stratford hide, CVL. Couldβve cropped it closer, but I like this
Well as it looks like we wonβt be getting any sunshine this weekend, here one with some sun on it, from last weekend. The returning Drake Baikal Teal, at Greylake RSPB, Somerset #ukbirds
Risked the weather yesterday, late morning, until mid afternoon. The Merlin at Greylake RSPB, Somerset, showed well, but was drenched, as you can see below....will have to go back on a better day. Hopefully can get the Male too, if he is still about
Sorry that video doesnβt seem to work, except via the linkβ¦. Letβs see if this works instead youtu.be/8D4WksQ3s8Q
