Hey @mothiduk.bsky.social hopefully this will work this time!
Thanks
Was pleased to get my first self-found Garganey this morning (4 of them!) (Bubbenhall) but too distant for photo. Also lovely looking female Smew (Bubbenhall) and a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (RSPB Middleton Lakes) after work, my first in quite a few years @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social
No worries, that’s very much!
@mothiduk.bsky.social any thoughts on this pug please? Was thinking a worn Double-striped? Thanks
Great day out in Cornwall yesterday with @pringlebirder.bsky.social & Darren. 77 species seen including Booted Eagle & Common Sandpiper at Marazion, Black Redstart & Spoonbill at Hayle, 3 Ring-necked Duck at Dozmary, Green Sandpiper & Green-winged Teal at Treraven @cbwps.org.uk #ukbirding
A 5-day break to Poland with the family produced 37 species. 3 lifers for me were Black Woodpecker, Crested Tit & Short-toed Treecreeper. 5 Dipper together were nice to see. Also the very localised Tatra Chamois high up on the mountains!
A return visit to Broadsands after work today had the Scoter flock from Monday a little closer and so as able to pick out the Surf Scoter this time. Not much rise on the water but a Firecrest and 2 Cirl Bunting in the car park #ukbirding #devonbirding
A nice pit stop at Broadsands en route to Plymouth for work produced at least 14 Cirl Bunting, Black-throated Diver, 3 GNDiver, Red-necked Grebe & a small raft of Scoter (too distant to see if anything unusual with them) #ukbirding
Wish I took my camera, 2 Short-eared Owl showed well at Barbury Castle this evening #ukbirding
A lunchtime walk around some local fields today produced 3 more year ticks - Feral Pigeon (5), Yellowhammer (3), Sparrowhawk (1). The large finch flock that was there in the fog last weekend had virtually disappeared but 12 Greenfinch was nice to see
36 species on patch this morning with 3 patch year ticks - Linnet (5), Fieldfare (13) & Snipe (1) #ukbirding
A cold and foggy walk around the fields near Blunsdon produced a whopping 67 Red-legged Partridge. Also my first Snipe and Jay of the year #ukbirding
A few nice birds today with pre-work and lunch visits hauling in Kentish Plover, Slav & Black-necked Grebes, Scaup, Great Northern Diver & Cattle Egrets #ukbirding
A quick lunchtime visit to CWP produced 13 year ticks. Nothing out of the ordinary with Marsh Harrier & Great White Egret being the highlights #ukbirding
Trying to do some more patch birding this year at Tadpole NR. Been a slow start after a couple of visits so far with 44 species so far, including 2 flyover patch ticks of Egyptian Goose & Canada Goose
Was great to see a coouple of unringed Common Crane flying over Swindon last week #ukbirding
After finding my first patch Barn Owl yesterday it was a joy to see 2 birds together this morning. One of them even came over to say hello! #ukbirding
This bird was the draw for my first visit to the patch, not long after moving to Swindon!
Finally got my first Barn Owl of the year this morning, and nice it was a patch tick too! The clear highlight of a short visit to Tadpole which also included a fly Siskin and 3 Raven #ukbirding
Great day out in Norfolk yesterday with 89 species seen including 4 year ticks - Tundra Bean Goose, Hume's Warbler, Shore Lark & Red-Necked Grebe #ukbirding
Also on Friday a local patch tick with a drake Mandarin
Revisited an old haunt for a couple of hours this morning - Staines Moor. Highlights of at least 3 Water Pipit, Goosander, Green Sandpiper and this fantastic looking leucistic Stonechat!
Also backing up the Pied Wheatear were 3 stunning Black Redstart @birdguides.bsky.social
Fantastic sunrise at Seaford this morning, and even better the Pied Wheatear showed well when I returned to the area at lunchtime. A lifer for me @birdguides.bsky.social
3 Fieldfare over the garden, the first ones this year
Yeah I went from the wrong end so it was a lot deeper in places! Thick fog this morning as well so couldn't see a lot of the floods
Just 1 moth in the trap this morning but it was worth it as it is a Wilts tick for me - The Delicate
Very soggy walk from Castle Eaton this morning. No sign of LYellowlegs (but v foggy). Highlights of 47 species:
Marsh Harrier
24 Fieldfare, 62 Redwing
2 Water Rail

Final day in Cornwall, a bit of vismig over our start just thing produced c300 Chaffinch, 50 Skylark, 25 Mipit. En route home another 2 Chough at Trevose Head
An appalling seawatch toss morning, soaked through to the bone with hardly any birds. Year ticked Chough at Porthtowan was a nice consolation though
