This really bums me out, the hits just keep on coming, and this one hits hard.
Trying a different workflow of this one cheap upcycled pencil I have a ton of, then col erase, then a cheap Arteza pen I got a bunch of for pennies at Ollie's.
That sounds delightful! I used to let Valentine's get to me, but yesterday I watched movies, and NBA All Star stuff, and I made a rocking shrimp pasta with a feta sauce. Also, didn't have to go outside, it was divine!
This is accurate! As a kid, a friend kept swearing that he watched a hidden Aliens show that was on at 2am that was where they got some of the photos on the backs of the toys from. A few weekends, my mom would wake me up to try and find it, but alas. So Badlands finally fills that void.
Early Valentine's gift to myself: I got a bunch of Grass Green col erase pencils for a great price. I know it's neurotic, but I cleaned them and I'm letting them dry. Seems like they are factory defects. My love language is colored pencils, lol

A quick sketch from last night. I was trying the Montezuma brush in Procreate, which for once I didn’t hate. It kind of reminds me of the Scratchboard Tool in the old Painter program, which I used for some old comics.
Like they always say, it's just best to take it a day at a time. I've been working on my health, and the joys of unlocking new abilities is the most rewarding part. My doctor always says to me, "Show yourself kindness, patience, and keep working."
Sometimes I hit a wall and I just riff on fun shapes to get something on the page. I've been having fun drawing animals a lot more lately!
Thanks! I was having trouble getting past the scribbling stage. But yesterday, I was taking it a step at a time, and it finally started clicking again.
Things have been crazy, the world is crazy, the weather is about to get crazy...but I still enjoy drawing Batgirl. So I thought I would start there, and try and get back to more drawing.
That's a valid reason! In the old days, we had to protect our hands/arms for art, but in current society? Comfort is king

That has always been my favorite part: the process. Honestly, as a kid, a lot of times I didn't really read some comics I bought, I was trying to study the magic of how they achieved a pose, or face I loved. I think I have more process/sketchbooks from artists than actual comics now.
I think that's why this hit me hard, this year has been a real test. I feel like when I was younger, I was blindly optimistic, and the last decade has really been rough. But out of stubbornness, or maybe a deeper understanding of myself now, I don't want the bad to win. I liked those themes in this.
That was a good moment with the call, and also felt like it built additional understanding between the leads. It was a good 'earned' moment.
I liked things like things the lighting cues, and I do want to return to it after looking at some people more well versed than me talk about it. I feel like there were other things I missed because I was focused on the dialogue.
It's definitely a good thing, as A*I fills feeds, it's best to just do what makes you happy. My former art dealer set me up with a test thing years ago with a Writer/Artist, and it was like a week of Whiplash type emotional abuse. By the end of it, I didn't know who I was as an artist. Never again.
Man, it took me a long time to get to that point, and I feel like this year it is going to get weirder, lol. I was showing some of my sketchbook to Devin, and I think 90% is just jokes that make like .5% of people besides me laugh
one of the coolest things about ChatGPT is how you can actually just never use it. you can fill your whole entire life with simply not once using it. it's incredible.
I'm all for it, the barrier between Thanksgiving was breached last year, and this year so much disrespect was shown to my beloved Halloween by things such as Balsam Hill, and H*bby Lobby that it's all off. It's Halloween right now for me, and not just because Christmas music now gives me anxiety
