This is still happening! (I honestly have no idea when it will end, so...)
So on the porch or in a "safe zone" isn't good enough. Put kids inside until the mower put away.
M is an adult now, BTW. While he has pain trauma and challenges, he's doing well.
M lost the front half of both feet, almost lost one leg below the knee. They were discussing possible amputation for a year, through several infections.
The family member mowing had told the kids to stay on the porch where it was safe. They were playing with a ball that got kicked into the yard.
My PSA about mowers:
MAKE SURE YOUR CHILDREN ARE INSIDE WHILE YOU MOW.
My friend's son ran behind a riding mower and the driver didn't realize it, backed up and ran over him. He was 4 at the time.
Anyhoo, I've mentioned off and on that I'm decluttering, but I don't think I ever got into how large of a task it has been. Or how much more we have to go.
Decluttering is a massive job, y'all. Props to everyone out here working on there shit. It's a long haul, but you got this.
After 5 years of reducing, I think I'm finally past the halfway mark. Like I said, it's been a lot.Trying to be responsible with how I dispose of things, but there is still just a bunch of STUFF.
But I've also realized most of what I had filling my house was just...junk. It had no real value and no one wanted it. Not even me. I held onto it because I didn't want to just toss it, send it to a landfill. But in the end, that was all it was good for.
And once it was gone I felt so much better
I've halved my board games, sold about 1/3 of my collectables, knit up and gifted a small bin's worth of yarn. Given away another half-bin that deserved to be loved. Sold 6 small appliances and donated a few more.
I've literally donated a pile of clothing the size of my car. I've sold stacks more. I shredded and recycled two dozen bags of old paperwork. Sent hundreds of books to the Little Free Library. Sold a room full of furniture and donated five additional pieces.
KI1 and I had a chat about the decluttering progress this weekend and I realized just how long of a haul this has been. I started the process in late 2021 and I'm still working on it.
It's been off and on, sometimes taking several months off at a time, and it has been A LOT.
I always assume those books are no plot, all vibes. Not for me.
Post someone who looks good in a dress
I have straight hair and can absolutely sleep on wet hair with no problems. Except a damp pillow. Ew.
Also, I should mention, I generally make a lot of rice because Kid1 will make a late-night meal of the leftovers. He tops it with milk and a little sugar as a sweet treat.
When the rice was done, I added a couple spoonfuls of corn starch slurry to the gravy to thicken and called it done.
I'll round up to account for the pantry ingredients and call that $1.50/meal or 0.75/plate.
I was too tired to make a side salad, but that would take it up to about $1/plate.
seared both sides in a pan then dropped the heat to med. Added 1/4 of an onion, sliced thin, and let it cook in the rendered fat until translucent.
Added a spoonful of Better than Bouillon (bought on sale at 0.64/jar) & water, brought to a simmer &let it sit while the rice cooked. (abt 1c or 0.30)
The ground beef/pork mix is running a bit under $4/lb. I'm using 1/4 lb so we'll call it $1
Mixed that with some pantry items - Worcestershire and oyster sauces, garlic powder, salt, pepper ($nominal) and an egg 0.10. Used a piece of bread for crumbs, and formed into 2 large patties.
The world's going to hell but we still gotta eat. So how about a BUDGET MEAL? (trying to be enthusiastic. Is it working?)
On the menu: Salisbury Steak
One was a preacher, the other a department store manager.
Guess who gets to use the nifty "Employee of the Month" parking spot this month.
Oh. I should mention everyone was okay. One coworker had a concussion from the wreck but no one got shot and everyone walked away.
Anyhoo. Yeah. Murica.
I could never write this character. I absolutely cannot wrap my brain around this level of stupid. I mean, yes, substances were helping dip that IQ, but she didn't start from the highest step on the ladder.
So last month some of my coworkers were traveling for business reasons and on their way back had their vehicle rammed and the other driver then held them at gunpoint. (Hello, Murica)
Today one of them sent me a link to the police video of the person who did it and y'all.
I have one like this and absolutely ADORE it.
I'm so sorry.
It really is amazing how much worldwide goodwill a single administration can destroy in just over a year.
It touched me, Kyr.
TOUCHED ME.
I am barefoot and it is dead.
