“Dear Diary,
Super excited to say that I’ll be serving my Clacton constituents today by flying to Mar-a-Lago to meet Donald Trump and to undermine the UK government. God I love being a patriot!”

I've been telling so many folks that I hope my parents are happy in heaven that dad now wishes I'd picked them out a care home with a different name.

There are currently no US Ambassadors in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, or Qatar. And since consular budgets have been slashed, few personnel to assist Americans trying to leave the region, even as the US issues evacuation notices instructing them to do so.

Trump: "Spain said we can't use their bases. We could use their bases if we want. We could just fly in and use it. Nobody is gonna tell us not to use it"

Not receiving consent and moving forward anyway is a consistent theme in his life — as E. Jean Carroll can attest

Single-panel cartoon by Joe Lemon from 2020.
Scene is a Missing Persons Bureau office, with balloons and cake and everyone wearing festive hats. All the PC screens show the Google home page.
One guy is on his mobile, saying:
"We're on it, Chief. I've already started a search party."

I can't help thinking that the Tories' current outspoken defence of the "special relationship" has little to do with supporting Trump's little adventure and everything to do trying to embarrass Starmer. They forget however how unpopular Trump is in the UK. This isn't X!

Trump's mercurial little rant against Starmer is exactly what people have been warning would happen. No one, least of all Starmer should be surprised Trump is lashing out the minute he doesn't get what he wants. It's way past time the UK distanced itself from him

Being a Lincoln City fan: when 1 point behind the league leaders seems a mountain to climb and 10 points ahead of third place feels like it could be blown away by a gentle breeze.

The Dow Jones Index, in its 130 year history has dropped a 1,000 points or more 14 times.

Twelve out of those 14 times were under a Donald Trump Presidency.

And his mates profited every single time.

And they still haven't released the Epstein Files.

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:

- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.

If I was @zackpolanski.bsky.social, I would be pointing out to the BBC that whatever model they use to justify giving Farage & his boot-lickers season tickets for every BBC show under the sun must surely now treat Green Party politicians in exactly the same way. Might even be one for the lawyers...

Absolutely normal for a democracy to ban museum exhibitions that express “improper ideology”.

And in no way reminiscent of either Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy or totalitarian Communist Soviet Union.

The utterly shameless & widely covered "report" out today, claiming net zero will "cost" £9tn is based on:

* Assuming free fossil-fuel energy, free petrol cars, free gas boilers, free gas power plants etc

AND

* Including climate damages in the "cost" of net zero

I kid you not, it is that stupid

Mill workers were hugely important in the push to get women the vote. Although wages were low they, wielded economic power and were well organised.

They often, unfairly, get overlooked in the popular narrative where the quest for the vote gets cast as a purely middle or upper class movement.

YouGov polling for @bestforbritain.org shows that most people intending or considering a vote for Reform are in favour of a wealth tax - which is Green Party policy

Nigel Farage & Richard Tice are, of course, vehemently opposed to taxing the ultra-rich whose interests they represent.
