So I read my books and I watch my shows and I call my reps and I sign a petition and I worry about my mental health. “We’re not made to see that much violence.” And I think of them and I’m scared to die when my life hasn’t changed at all. I am safe in my bed and I cuddle my cat and I kiss my mother knowing she won’t be blown up before I see her again. I take my breaks from the news cause it’s all too much and remember they can’t take a break from what the government is doing to them so I call my reps and I sign more petitions and I try my best to not go numb and I feel exhausted at the state of it all and my life hasn’t changed at all. Still I work my job and I shop for food and can you believe about that monkey in the zoo? and I post “fuck ice” and it gets some likes as if I’m really sticking it to them. And now you can’t drive trans and no one’s safe unless you’re America first and say “Trump is God” and you don’t care at all about the stranger dying because loving your neighbor doesn’t mean them.
