Coming out of hibernation for my first zine fair of the year. I will have 2 new zines about EastEnders and football. I haven't written the new zines yet but publicly declaring them like this will apply the pressure I need.

The booklet version of "Who Shares the Restroom Code with ICE Agents?" is out of print again. I'm plotting another reprint (which would be the fifth since it was first published in June 2025). In the meantime, I redesigned the interior text as an 11x17 format double-sided poster. I had some cheap 20# paper so I cranked out a hundred of them on the RISO with Teal ink. These are free with orders of anything from www.halfletterpress.com while supplies last. If you order something small, I'll send you one folded in quarters to 8.5x5.5 format. If you order something larger I'll fold it twice width-wise so you get this nicer object without a fold across the title of the text. If you want to print this yourself for free distribution, the files can be found at: tinyurl.com/WhoSharesWithICE

Great Yarmouth is set to host the biggest neo-nazi music festival in over a decade. The Home Office has the power to block entry of overseas bands, which will scupper the promoters plans. But they wonβt act unless we demand it. Email the Home Office now: hopenothate.org.uk/2025/08/28/g...
Screenshot from Dover Reform councilor James Defriend's Instagram post. The photo features me and my friends with our faces obscured, we are carrying banners and Palestine flags. My sign reads 'Dover Queers Against Fascists'
Text caption from James Defriends insta post. Caption reads: "I've always supported Pride and I've been lucky enough to attend a few over the years... Today I watched the march go by in Dover town, everyone smiling celebrating love and freedom. But then I spotted 2 signs that made me pause. One read 'Dover Queers Against Fascists' and another was a Palestinian flag. I know pride is rooted in protest and struggle but I've always thought the heart of pride is about equality and acceptance and love showing the world that people should be free to love as they are without fear. That's a message I think is truly beautiful. So my question is does bringing in these kinds of political messages change the meaning of pride? Is it still about the universal call for love and acceptance or is it becoming something different? And perhaps more importantly, do people carrying a Palestinian flag really understand how incredibly hard and dangerous it is to be openly gay in Palestine? I know. I know by sharing this I may be giving those signs more attention than they deserve but I'd really like to understand what's going on here. Especially my friends in the community what are your thoughts." Underneath the caption is my comment: "I'm deeply sorry if any fascists felt unwelcome at Dover Pride today because of my flimsy cardboard sign."
My Reform councilor didn't like my Dover Queers Against Fascists sign at Dover Pride today. Sincere apologies to any fascists or fans of genocide who felt unwelcome at Pride today.
Library workers should already have been boycotting and divesting from Ex Libris and the company keeps adding more and more reasons to divest. bsky.app/profile/simo...
Trans pride was so good. It's amazing how being surrounded by thousands of trans people all day makes me want to stay alive. 10/10 would recommend.

Hello, a little reminder that @jenniegouck.bsky.social and I wrote a long CFP for a conference we're organising, online, next February. Do you have thoughts about book banning and censorship in children's and YA literature? Send 'em in!
Those of us who emailed to complain to Kent libraries have started receiving replies today which double down on the commitment to ensure that no children will be EXPOSED to trans adult literature. Because trans, like all moral panics, is a contagion.
Solidarity with Kent County Council library workers who I know are working hard to fight this behind the scenes, and I'm so sorry your senior leaders are pandering to this transphobic dog whistle.
There's been so much misinfo but one thing which DID happen is that Kent library shared a statement vowing that 'no child would be 'exposed' to trans adult literature'...including general public displays.' This language is reminiscent of Section 28, I'm gonna need something a bit stronger CILIP
CILIP's statement uses the term trans ideological rather than trans. What are we fucking doing here?
I literally had to lay down in the dark and not speak to anyone all day today. I had the best time but I used my social battery for the entire month in one day. Hope you get some proper downtime to recover.
Of course! Hopefully I can then pack in this diy lifestyle and learn to monetise The Huge Following π€π»
48 hours after Glasgow zine fest and I don't have my usual zine fest lurgy? Incredible.
I got a copy of this at Glasgow Zine Fest this weekend and it is SO GOOD. It totally saved me on the rail replacement journey home yesterday.
4 panel watercolour comic. Panel 1. The caption reads 'Last week Reform councilors claimed to be removing trans books across Kent's 99 libraries'. The panel shows Reform councilors Paul Webb and Linden Kemkaran with a speech bubble that says "A victory for common sense in Kent! Panel 2. The caption reads 'No books have been removed, no policy implemented, but Kent County Council doubled down with this statement. '. The panel shows a mobile phone view of the KCC library Instagram page. Underneath the latest post the library has written the following statement: "Kent County Council have confirmed that children are not and will not be exposed to trans adult literature in our libraries...including in public welcome displays." Panel 3. Panel shows someone in a Hazmat suit and gloves and boots holding a book. The text reads: "Exposed" because just like all centres of moral panics, trans is a contagion." Panel 4. Panel shows a copy of the book The Autistic Trans Guide to Life. Arrows point at the book with accompanying labels: 'This book will trans you.' 'The front cover will make you change your pronouns.' 'Free hormones for every reader. '
Panel 5. The caption reads 'So there will be no more adult literature in public welcome displays.' underneath are illustrations of 4 books: 'Elon Musk autobiography. How to influence elections and destroy everything.' 'Military stuff and war is cool'. 'How to diet and hate your body because being fat is bad.' and 'Jolly Cooper's Rich Shaggers.' The caption continues 'Does this apply to all books which might corrupt and pervert young minds?'. Panel 6. Panel shows a library shelves cordoned off with hazard tape and a sign which reads 'Do not enter these books might trans you.' The caption reads 'Will young people be prevented from reading beyond their age level?' Panel 7. Panel shows a group of library protestors holding signs which say 'Save our library's and 'Keep Folkestone library open ' The caption reads 'How are Kent libraries which are underfunded, understaffed, and under-resourced meant to police this contagion?' Panel 8 Shows two people talking. The first person is a white woman saying "I voted Reform to stop the boats." The second person is me saying "You also voted to stop children from reading."
Did you know that although Section 28 was repealed in 2003, Kent County Council was the only council in England which voted to uphold their own version of section 28 all the way up until 2010. Way before Reform existed.

I made a new zine! It's full of advice on how allies can work alongside trans people to take action in the current moment, lovingly cut-and-pasted over the words of my enemies. Plus lots of nice pictures and memes.
Available as a free PDF! Read online or print your own copy! Share with everyone!
Absolutely devastated to learn I used to have 16 usable hours every week to make comics but only figured that out when I made time to do this mid-life crisis Masters now adon't have time to process my mental unravelling through comic form.
Really interesting to see which pals posted about boycotting Eurovision over on insta but then live tweeted the whole thing over here on bluesky.
Photo of tonight's VE Day special episode of EastEnders on my TV sitting on my bookshelf. There is a crowd of Walford residents in the Queen Vic pub. People are wearing union Jack hats and waving flags. The closed captions on the TV read "We will remember them"
Sometimes it is so hard being an Eastenders fan you have no idea. I'm writing a complaint email to the BBC immediately and requesting that my vote in the soap award is cancelled.
I got to collaborate with brilliant comics pal @jessmakescomics.bsky.social in a response to the govts planned cuts to disability benefits. Script and overall creative prowess by Jess, art by me.
Watercolour comic. Panel 1: The panel is split diagonally showing a phone conversation between two people. In the top left diagonal is me, a fat person with short hair on the phone and asking "So what else is new Nan?" In the bottom right diagonal is my Nan, an elderly woman with short hair on the phone and saying "Well Susan across the road...she's now supplying lard to the whole cul-de-sac". Panel 2: An elderly woman in the background stands outside her house waving to another elderly woman in the foreground carrying bags down the street. The caption reads '...She came back from the co-op last week with loads of bags so I asked her...' The woman in the background says "I thought your Julie was doing your shop for you?" The second woman replies "Yeah she is, this is all just lard."Panel 3: The woman with the shopping bags continues: "I bought ALL of the lard in the co-op because I know everyone needs it for their baking. So now they can just get it from me. " Panel 4: My Nan speaks down the phone to me "So now if you need any lard you have to call Susan, give her two rings and then hang up"
Panel 5: Illustration of a woman opening her front door to find a block of lard on the doorstep. The caption continues my Nana conversation: "...She then brings out a pack of lard and puts it on her doorstep..." Panel 6: Illustration of an elderly woman waving from her window so presumably the person who has dropped off a pack of lard. The caption continues my Nans conversation: "...then you can come and collect the lard". Panel 7: illustration of me on the phone looking confused and asking "But why? Is there some short of lard shortage? I thought it was flour?". Panel 8: Illustration of my Nan on the phone telling me "Well I've got a deal with the man at the garage. He lets me have alls much flour as I want so if anyone needs flour they have to come to me. What's your lard situation?"
5 years ago today I shared The Lard Situation for the first time, probably the greatest comic I will ever make. I love how this captures my Nan's confusion of mutual aid and hoarding. She passed away almost 3 years ago now but I can still hear this comic in her voice.
Which guides have been removed? I can still see trans ally guide, trans inclusion, and trans model on the website. I'm so disappointed with their wait-and-see statement of non-support and trying to raise this with my branch.
