Thank you, James. D&I is critical to us - regardless of any US presidential whims - because we want *everyone* to be able to build the future with data, easily and flexibly.

If Twitter's apocalypse did nothing else for you, it was to drive you to actually start using WhatsApp rather than Twitter DMs.
Post-re:Invent detox is proceeding apace.
@quinnypig.com I saw you in the Heroes lounge & wanted to say hi, but you were in a conversation with a small group and I didn't want to be rude. Now I wish I'd been rude and (briefly) interrupted. At least I got to continue seeing your face, which was left on the table in the form of a sticker ๐
Flying out of SLC this am I realized the job I most want after I leave tech is mayor of SLC or governor of Utah, because I love this place so much (quirks and all). Full-time advocate for Utah would be a dream job. In the meantime, here's a taste of why I love it here.
Just have them drive you all the way to Vegas. Seems they'd fit right in.
@094459.bsky.social Tsk tsk. I knew you couldn't leave my ski pictures!
But scads? At that point, choice becomes a burden, rather than liberating. You talk with a lot of customers/developers, however, and may see it differently.
Do you think AWS should ever be "less AWS" and offer more opinionated infrastructure? I can see it both ways, but admit I found Jassy's talk track about "we're going to give you all the models you could possibly want and let you figure it out" to be...not customer obsessed. A few primitives, yes.
And also never *not* going to compete with their partners. At their scale, it's sort of inevitable. One question will be whether they do any better with recommending models for customers than they've done with, dare I say, databases?
@emilyfreeman.bsky.social Am I wrong to think it was weird for Andy to announce new ML models instead of Garman (or Swami)?
