I don't think it's really about racism. They are reframing 'concerns' about immigration as common sense, to appeal to racists and easily worried middle-Englanders. But the endgame is to use this to secure power via the ballot box, then loot the public realm and criminalise resistance.

No, the Epstein files distract from this. Trump spoke with Putin recently, now this. This challenges foreign govts to condemn Trump. They won't, because they're lickspittles. This action sets a precedent for Putin to act in the same way in Ukraine, and then onwards to the rest of Europe etc.

As previously noted: if Rebecca Long-Bailey had won that leadership election then it seems quite likely to me that we would now be in the second term of the Johnson government, oblivious to the scandals, and “Partygate” would still just be some photos saved on a phone in Dominic Cummings’ desk.
