Also relevant from the colonies : we had this fight kinda five years ago when our passports abandoned Images of Canadian History (the Last Spike) for Images of Canadian Pastimes (canoeing) on the inside pages. Very tedious.

Highly recommend hedgehogs. 1980s Canadian bills had a series of birds on them and they’ve never been nicer to look at since.

Yeah I remember searching Soulseek for files that were vaguely (not deliberately; just without due care and attention) titled! Maybe some of that was ‘official’ but it didn’t feel like it. Felt exciting for a year. Then felt like drudgery. Robbed all the joy from a new record.

The album “leak” - the notion, the pursuit, the whole thing - really ruined my music listening between 2002-2010 or so. Fallow years :(

This song is all about the bridge!! Perfect lush 20 seconds in the middle that makes the rest of it so plainly stark and brutal.

Oh you have amazing albums left to go…! Night Ride Home, and Turbulent Indigo. Conventional wisdom is that she lost her voice and, yeah, technically, but her phrasing is phenomenal. And a marvellous sound. So lucky to hear these, new.

I am doing exactly this with Pet Shop Boys this year and it is very rewarding.
