When the hard-right GB News recognise reality and talk about a "Donald Trump problem" for Nigel Farage & Reform UK they really are in major trouble.

If you want to beat them, figure out how to organize a bloc of economic actors whose material interests are served by the transition. Organize a bloc with *more power* and then *defeat* them. That's how this works. You're not going to fucking seduce them with your clever verbiage!
I just got an email pushing a new book, and ... I'm not going to call out the book itself, cause I don't wanna ruin anyone's day, but ... I am going to subtweet it.
It's yet another book on how the problem with climate change is ... the way we talk about it! "Framing"! "Messaging"!
NEW - The Hereditary Peers Bill has passed in the House of Lords, finally passing the governmentβs major reform that has been fought every step of the way, despite being manifesto pledge.
It passes now only because the government offered the Tories more life peerages.
Communities must be given the right to own environmental assets like rivers, woods & peat bogs
Thanks to @jenny4suffcoast.bsky.social & other MPs for writing this letter to Ministers, urging them to amend Community Right to Buy rules whilst there's still time:

Get off fossil fuels. Keep us safe from mad dictators. ππΎ
How much more evidence do we need? The ultra-rich and the governments supporting them will destroy everything for the sake of profit, power and pride. Nothing is precious to them - not human life, not the living world - except their own wealth and status. Our survival depends on resisting them.
As an IR professor, it's depressing that this is outperforming all others as the best theory of US foreign policy
People in Britain need to be really clear that the reason they are about to be worse off is Donald Trump and his enablers.
If true that Trump is signalling an end in sight, then what weβve learned from this fiasco is that the Iranian regime does not collapse even under intense pressure & the rest of the world canβt endure closure of the straits of Hormuz for very long at all www.wsj.com/livecoverage...
Farage & right-wing populism will pay an electoral price for their pro-Trump views. 67% of people are anti-Trump; a mere 4% very pro-Trump. While Farage's Reform are seen by 70% as pro-Trump; the Greens by 56% as anti-Trump. Putting Farage in an electoral ghetto. Via YouGov.
Opposition to the United States' military action against Iran has risen by 10pts among Britons over the last week
Support: 25% (-3 from 2 March)
Oppose: 59% (+10)

This is really excellent - the creation of a register of 'options over land' will help show if developers are land banking, and allow communities and councils to better understand who controls land in their area.
Good work @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social & MHCLG Land team!

Today, weβre introducing new rules to boost land market transparency.
This will allow communities to better understand what land is controlled and may come forward for development.

Change is afoot in Wales!
For a long time, the way the countryside is managed, the way our environmental politics have been influenced, the future of our landscapes, have been dominated by a singular vision.
Kind of weird when you can watch the global market collectively go "oh shit he is that crazy".
Meanwhile, Spain's massive investment in renewables is paying dividends now: with prices for Spanish industry and consumers low and stable compared with other European economies.

8/ Now Full blown panic in Trump WH. Their schemes afoot to:
(1) Insure more tankers with DFC
(2) Provide US navy escorts to ships that are too scared;
(3) Keep prices down (by trading in oil futures)
(4) Increase supply (waived india russia sanctions for 30 days)

Polls have closed in the first of this year's five German state elections, in prosperous Baden-WΓΌrttemberg. It's looking like a remarkable win-from-behind by the Greens under @oezdemir.de. Full results over the course of the evening.
Itβs not just that little can be done by this autumn. Little can be done this side of 2030 and itβs highly probably little can be done, full stop, given the maturity of the N Sea basin. This much shared Carbon Brief graph says it all.
This is what ecocide looks like.
Itβs nonsense. 75% of our gas imports come from Norway, 17% from the US & just 1-2% from Qatar, so trying to squeeze a tiny bit more from North Sea fields thatβve been declining for decades will make no odds to security, global prices or tax receipts. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/688a09...

We already know the winner in the war with Iran and that's Russia. The closure of the Straits of Hormuz has swung Russian crude from pariah to prized commodity. Urals oil price is the highest since right after the Ukraine invasion. Putin is loving this...

Hitting desalination plants is so bad. Not just evil but strategically incomprehensible. Without desalination 75% of the entire population of the Middle East will be refugees. Israel and Kuwait depend on desalination for 90% of their water and other Middle East states arenβt far behind.
