What it is Like to Accidentally be Trapped in a Country at War
By Zack Davisson
Hey! You seen on the news of evacuation orders for Americans whose vacation was suddenly disrupted by a little war as a treat? Well, it happened to me too.
Gather round for story time! Destination, EGYPT!!!

Seems like privileged USians are experiencing, if only temporarily, what it feels like to flee with a limited or useless passport. But unlike refugees, asylum seekers, and economic refugees it will still be easier for them to evacuate once the administration gets their shit togetherโ I hope.
Can Michael please stay in his line and stop writing about Latino music.. every time he writes about Black or Brown music I YAWN physically and can't even finish reading the piece. That first line, what the fuck???

My cousin in college asked me and then sort of shamed me, but I quipped back that I had a lot of fun in college
Publicly, big tech companies like Microsoft and Amazon aggressively cultivate images as good neighbors and environmental stewards. Privately they fight โ hard โ against any new regulations on their booming data center industry

We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time." Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed. That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.
From Hunter S. Thompsonโs ESPN page 2 column one week after 9/11.
"Since people are looking for ways to tell whether writing was done by a human or not, do you know what one of those signs might be? Thatโs right; itโs a typo like me."
Is โdonโt practice Scientologyโ in the room with us?
In another universe, Matthew McConaughey comes into whatever cafe I was working in at age 21 and falls in love with me at first sight.
Finally. Some good news.
That spacecraft is having one hell of a time.
Do you long for the days when reading books could earn you free pizza?
Starting March 2, the King County Library System is launching "KCLS Rewind," for adults, a two-month program where patrons can complete tasks to earn a free slice of Pagliacci Pizza.
Speechless about this.

Looks like Barron Trump is starting to lose his hair.
Still from the pilot episode of Twin Peaks. Kyle MacLachlan, playing Special Agent Dale Cooper, is driving his car holding a tape recorder to his mouth. Text reads: โDiane, 11:30 am, February 24th. Entering the town of Twin Peaks.โ

There are only two type of people that I dislike benignly: religious people who donโt pass out candy to kids on Halloween even though theyโre home and people who park and block the sidewalk.

(Yโall think Iโm kidding but Iโve lost count of the number of fellow journalists whoโve told me that this is a genuine daily struggle: knowing all about social mediaโs ills, but working in an industry where โ unless youโre at one of a handful of major outlets โ youโre expected to be good at it)
The kids are alright.
Iโm always at a loss when deciding where to subscribeโฆ I am tired of The Atlanticโs excess Trump coverage. Considering The New Yorker or New York Timesโฆ but I know theyโve got more than enough. Likely The Believer, but theyโre only quarterly. Any suggestions?
