Rape victims deserve better than a justice system which puts them under the spotlight, rather than the perpetrator.
Our work with @KatrinHohl will change that.
Combined with our new Independent Legal Advisors, we will give rape victims confidence in the system again.
Hi Claire! I'm happy to talk through this with you! Could you send your thoughts to me via email, and I'll make sure you get the thorough and detailed response you deserve
π Happy #WorldBookDay!
I stopped by the World Book Day drop-in in Parliament to celebrate the joy of reading.
Reading for pleasure opens doors for young people, building imagination, confidence and opportunity. Every child deserves access to books both at school and at home.
A meaningful meeting with Niall Collins in Dublin this week to discuss our shared mission to tackle the epidemic of violence against women & girls. We're united in our drive to crackdown on cowardly online abuse, fight the root causes of misogyny & protect women & girls from harm.

I was proud to speak yesterday at a parliamentary event hosted by Womenβs Aid and Vintage to mark the launch of GisΓ¨le Pelicotβs memoirs.
Her bravery and determination to use her voice to help others is truly inspiring, and a powerful reminder of why we must keep working to end VAWG.
As the public inquiry hearings begin today, my thoughts are with the bereaved families and survivors of the Nottingham attacks. Iβm thinking of them all at what will be an incredibly difficult time.

Proud to welcome the Prime Minister to Taffs Well today to announce a major, long-term commitment to transforming Welsh rail.
This is a real step forward for our communities, better connections, new stations, & investment to support jobs across Wales.
No one should experience rape or sexual assault. But for those who do, centres like the Saint Maryβs SARC are a lifeline. It was an absolute privilege to meet their staff today.
Together, we will halve violence against women & girls in a decade & deliver swifter justice for victims.
Iβm really proud to have been recognised by Movember as a Menβs Health Champion.
Thereβs still so much more to do, but Iβm proud to support the work thatβs helping men and boys feel able to talk about their health and get the support they need.
Today is Safer Internet Day, which is all about helping children and young people stay safe, confident and supported online.

This change was driven by brave survivors who spoke out and shared their experiences. We listened. Their voices made the difference.
This Labour Government is putting victims first. Always.
The end of a trial does not always bring clarity and closure.
That's why we're making access to a judge's sentencing remarks free for all victims. Helping them understand the outcome of the case that has shaped their life, so they can finally move forward.
Itβs hard to take a βthe country is in bad shapeβ speech from Jenrick seriously when it comes from someone who helped shape the policies that got us here

No one should be forced to see an intimate deepfake image of themselves.
The behaviour weβve seen on X recently is appalling, harmful and degrading. It must stop.
That's why this Labour Government is acting to ban the creation of non-consensual explicit deepfakes.
Congratulations to constituent Peter Eric Brewin, Director and Co-Founder of Concrete Canvas Ltd in Talbot Green, on being recognised in the New Yearβs Honours List for Services to Engineering Materials Innovation.

shield more children from trauma
β
give children & victims greater support
β
provide swifter justice for families
I welcome the Deputy PM's announcement today that killers of police, prison & probation officers will face whole life orders. This is necessary to protect those who dedicate their lives to keeping the public safe.

It was an honour to stand with the Jewish community at Heaton Park Synagogue for a deeply moving Menorah lighting. In the face of hatred, this was a powerful reminder of resilience, unity and choosing light over darkness this Chanukah.
We focused on the rise of digital abuse. Online abuse has real-world consequences, and tackling it is essential to protecting victims. This Labour Government is determined to make sure women and girls are safe both offline and online.
Violence against women & girls is a national emergency. I am committed to supporting victims & making real change.
As Minister for Victims & VAWG, I was privileged to meet campaigners, creators, survivors & victims to talk about how we can work together to drive national change.
Survivors have been retraumatised for too long. Our reforms will end intrusive irrelevant questions about their past & put the focus back on the perpetrator. As Minister for Victims & VAWG Iβm proud of the steps this Labour Government is taking to protect victims
