"Apparently, Congressman Lawler brought President Trump's Energy Secretary to Indian Point today to unveil Republicans' latest plan to make life more expensive and dangerous. Nuclear is the most expensive form of energy per kilowatt hour; reopening Indian Point at this point in time would not bring utility costs down. Furthermore, we simply can't trust the Trump administration to keep us safe. A former NRC Chairman recently called Trump's executive orders on nuclear 'a guillotine to the nation's nuclear safety system.' And this was before the president began brazenly defying international law, raising terrorism risks to horrifying new heights. This proposal makes zero sense for the communities surrounding Indian Point, which includes New York City just 25 miles to the south. I remain adamantly opposed to it."

Indian Point closed for a variety of reasons. Reopening it now, despite cheaper alternatives being available, and in the context of the most chaotic and risky presidential administration in American history, is a total non-starter.

Opinion: Don’t delay the CLCPA As tempting as it may be to seek an extension on the 2030 deadline, we should not consider weakening this legislation.

Big Oil & gas are trying to dismantle the CLCPA. NY must stay committed to our landmark climate goals. Rising utility costs are driven by maintaining expensive, outdated gas infrastructure, not the CLCPA.

ICYMI, read @amdanalevenberg.bsky.social's op-ed: www.cityandstateny.com/opinion/2026...

I joined parents & educators in Croton with @amdanalevenberg.bsky.social to call for increased UPK capacity & funding.

We appreciate the Governor’s support, but families across NY still face inequity. Pre-K shouldn’t depend on geography or a lottery. It’s time to fully fund UPK statewide.

We can choose to implement the CLCPA in ways that actually put money back into New Yorkers' pockets. We must hold the line on the CLCPA, for the sake of our planet and our pocketbooks. I published an op-ed on this back in January - read it here now ICYMI: www.cityandstateny.com/opinion/2026... (2/2)

We're hearing lots of smears about the CLCPA because change is scary, & it's easy to keep doing the same things we've done for decades. But weakening this law would be a mistake. We CAN implement our climate law in ways that don't cost NYers tons of extra money. (1/2)

As public servants, my staff and I are at work today and available to assist members of the public on our usual schedule. However, I stand in solidarity with everyone participating in today's general strike. We must take every peaceful action we can to ensure that the constitutional rights of everyone on United States soil are recognized and respected.

Are we allowed to learn from history on Holocaust Remembrance Day? Apparently, some think the answer should be no if it raises uncomfortable questions about what is happening in our country. During remarks on yesterday's Holocaust Remembrance resolution, a colleague interrupted my floor speech to say that current events were not germane to the topic at hand. I encourage you to watch the entire video and determine the relevance for yourself.

For me, as the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, it is frightening to watch the United States take steps toward becoming a totalitarian state. America's current approach to immigration enforcement is inhumane. It is also being used to expand the nation's surveillance and detention capacity, as well as being a means to coerce states to comply with unconstitutional orders. We need to oppose this now; let us not be like Martin NiemΓΆller, who saw what was happening but did not speak out until it was too late. What is the point of remembrance if we are just going to watch when our nation starts to repeat the mistakes of the past? If we are silent about what is happening, "Never Again" means nothing.

Because of the interruption, I cut the following passage from my remarks, which reference my firm belief that we need legislation like New York for All, Dignity Not Detention, and the MELT Act to protect people in this time: "Masked federal agents cannot continue rampaging through communities and into homes with warrants they signed for themselves. Human dignity requires due process, transparency, and the right to counsel. If these rights are not for everyone, we will eventually find they apply to no one."

I share this full video so that you can see the resistance I am facing as I continue to push for legislation to protect us and our neighbors. I do not want you to email the colleague who interrupted my remarks, but you should continue reaching out to Assembly leadership and the Governor to demand that New York pass a suite of new laws to protect us from the federal government.

Our current moment has many historical parallels. We should be trying to learn from all of them instead of remaining in denial about the danger we are in. We must speak out and take action at every opportunity; we can't just watch when our nation starts to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Nurses are the backbone of our hospitals; we cannot have a well-functioning system without them. I urge hospital leaders to negotiate in good faith and finalize contracts that ensure appropriate wages and benefits and improve the safety of nurses' working conditions.

Hudson Valley Families will save $636 million a year with a 3-K and Pre-K guarantee

The average New Yorker spends $22K on child care each year - for one kid. It's time for a Pre-K & 3-K Guarantee and a pathway to Universal Public Child Care

As session gets underway, affordability is top of mind for me and my colleagues. Child care is one of the top expenses for New York families, surpassing rent as the top expense for many households. The average New Yorker spends $22,000 on child care each year for just one child. (1/3)

Commentary: Electrification will save money and energy β€” and spur housing development There's no reason for New York to press pause on the All-Electric Buildings Act.

A primary driver of high costs in NY is the cost of housing. A multi-pronged approach to bringing these costs down must include electrification, & our All-Electric Buildings Act. Read my op-ed with Assemblymember Anna Kelles in today's @timesunion.com: www.timesunion.com/opinion/arti...

NYSERDA to reduce spending, advocates say it will hurt clean energy goals and low-income families Advocates across the state are unhappy with proposed cuts to the state’s EmPower+ program, which supports energy costs for low-and-moderate income households.

Families are bracing for double-digit energy bill hikes this winter, but NY is cutting the program that helps. Yesterday, @amdanalevenberg.bsky.social & advocates pushed to stop a 66% cut to EmPower+, which gives up to $10K per household for energy-saving upgrades.
