Go to Settings - Family Centre and then just enter a date of birth that's 18+

Did you ever try that one rom hack of DK64 that allows you to switch Kongs instantly with the D-Pad? I never played the original much myself and even I can tell how much of a godsend that feature is in making the game less of a tedious chore.
