Photo of a game of Second Edition Warhammer 40k on a bright green battlefield littered with beautiful scenery in the style of the Warhammer games from the 90s. The battle is mett between black-armoured Sisters of Battle and red Blood Angels Space Marines. There are numerous sci-fi cactii.
A unit of pink-armoured Slaaneshi terminators stand beside a mutated chaos dreadnought.
The scarlet Blood Angels Terminators take up position in an imperial bunker, its blue-grey walls a stark contrast to the verdant green landscape around it.
Green armoured Salamanders take up position on a gantry, the missile launcher scanning for targets.
Back from an amazing weekend away at the 'Second 'eds' event organised by Ed from the YouTube channel Minisodes. Many games of 2nd Edition 40k were played across stunning tabletops with gorgeous, fully-painted armies in classic style but the main takeaway was what a lovely bunch of folks I'd met.
3 highly customised space marine miniatures for Warhammer 40,000.
One of the minis on its own to you can better see it.
Behold! My RTB01-based Sanguinary guard for my Rogue Trader Lamenters army! Started painting these this morning and basically didnโt stop until all 3 were done. This probably means thereโs a bunch of mistakes Iโll need to fix later but for now, Iโm very happy with them.
I just found out that a collection of early John Blanche artworks were recently featured on the auction show Dickinsonโs Real Deal.
Iโm not surprised the traditional auctioneers had no feel for their value, but an initial offer of just ยฃ800 was wild. And the winning bid was only ยฃ10k. Astonishing!
My second Warlord games article, covering how I go about painting Epic Scale English Civil War range, has now gone live! I'm really chuffed with this one.
Please repost and share and let me know if it's been any use to you. Thanks!

Two black and white photos of a soldier who has received a facial injury during World War I. In the first photo, his injuries are on display. In the second photo, he is wearing a facial prosthetic (mask) that covers his injuries.

From the moment the first machine gun rang out over the Western Front, one thing was clear: mankindโs military technology had wildly surpassed its medical capabilities. Bodies were battered, gouged, hacked, and gassed. /1
I got introduced to Here's The Ruckus yesterday. My small French retinue losing two leaders in quick succession settled the issue. Happy to try again (especially with these lovely painted Perry and Athena minis)

small scale wargaming scenery showing a small city in a hilly landscape, bisected by a river and crisscrossed with roads.

It came up somewhere else, so why not share my 6mm scenery again.
This weekโs feature follows the daring escape of a Blenheim pilot and his crew through enemy lines and the Belgian medical system during May 1940. Chaos, bravery, tragedy and death.

English Civil War:
Another Parliamentarian unit has been started. I've been a bit slow with the progress recently, but progress is still progress!
More soon. ๐
MiG-15 makes an ineffective strafing run
Recoilless Rifle from 1st Fusilier Armour Defense Platoon gets first kill, knocking out the lead T54
Comet tank from 2nd Dragoons opens fire from an orchard killing two T54s.
Motor Rifles bail out of their BTRs that have been hit by Carl Gustav fire from the mountain side. They then get poinded by the Battalion 81mm mortars.

Finally rolling dice on the 7DTTRR game I set up Sunday night. PDRT start with an artillery barrage & airstrike followed by armour thrusts towards Altmarienmarkt.
Mantovians seize initiative. Comet tanks of 2nd Dragoons get some kills. Gebirsjaegern ambush from mountain side.
Hex map from Avalon Hill Flight Leader with Bob pointing out the counters for the 2 Mig 23s fighting my F4 Phantoms.
Flight Leader status card with counters to record altitude, speed and intended manoeuvre etc.
Played Avalon Hill's Flight Leader (1986) at the club last night. Really enjoyed it. Just the basic game this time round but we'll add in some of the more advanced stuff later. I got one of his Migs and he got one of my Phantoms before a hit the afterburners and dived for the deck and home.
I was quite pleased with the start I'd made on this 20mm Northern French town. However, this will be going for sale soon, due to events.
More buildings for Montcornet! Patrick Miniatures was incredibly generous and designed and printed these as a gift towards the table. Based on actual houses in the town, they were fantastic to work on.
Brilliant. I never had the ghost one but had the others. I loved these. Great collection of stories and lore.
Piano Wargames and @wargamesatlantic.bsky.social casually rolling out some of the best looking, versatile plastic Napoleonic French going. Really enjoyed painting these, and if one observes closely... the rear rank cheats are all in play here!
I knew Cushing painted toy soldiers (and played HG Wellsโ โLittle Warsโ on the floor with them), but I did not know about him inviting actresses to paint with him. That is wonderful.
West German gun line holds. Soviets fail to break through.

English Civil War bust by FeR Miniatures painted in acrylics.
I could keep playing with the metals for weeks, but think Iโm going to call this one here. English Civil War bust by FeR Miniatures painted in acrylics. #scalemodels #histscalemodels #bust
Began working on the tremendous #Hickstarter miniatures yesterday. Theyโre done, save for the decals. Iโm still thinking about what to do with the bases: classic rural, or rubble-strewn?
The scores are in: Worthing Boardgamers raised over ยฃ1100 for a local community hub/food bank from donations at our 24 hour boardgaming event. Stunning total.
#histscalemodels #scalemodels Didnโt realize that the front cowlings on these planes with Bristol engines was actually the exhaust collector. Pretty clever. Replicating it was a fun challenge. Also most of the way through painting the underside.
This week's short is looking at the original Saturnine Terminator from 1988 (that wasn't actually a Saturnine until it kinda was).
