I'm presenting a poster this afternoon at the Biology of Genomes #BoG25 - come by #254 in Biondi Hall if you wanna learn more about Non-B DNA motifs in great ape T2T genomes!
5. The satellite SST1, which is a breakpoint in #Robertsonian translocations, is enriched in recombinogenic G4 motifs and Z-DNA.
6. Non-B DNA display species- and chromosome-specific trends at #centromeres.
3. G4s and Z-DNA are enriched at #promoters and #enhancers, as well as at origins of replication.
4. #Repetitive sequences carry more non-B DNA motifs than non-repetitive sequences.
1. Non-B forming sequence motifs are overrepresented at the newly added to #T2T genome regions for the autosomes, #X and #Y chromosomes.
2. Non-B DNA motif types have a high density on the short arms of #acrocentric chromosomes.
My first first-author Post Doc paper together with Kateryna Makova just got published in the latest issue of Nucleic Acids Research: academic.oup.com/nar/article/...

A phylogeny of the 7 ape genomes that have now been completed from "T2T", with Homer Simpson representing mankind.
A project five years in the making, we've now published complete "T2T" genomes for six additional ape species! It turns out that finishing (and analyzing) six genomes is slightly more work than one... doi.org/10.1038/s415...
My first PostDoc paper turned out to be this one: www.nature.com/articles/s41... (a small contribution to this massive effort - but glad to be part of it!)
