That’s what I mean when I talk about the limits of our political economy. In theory all remotes should work on an open standard so that universal remotes just work. But we can’t/don’t enforce that, which leads us to where we are today. I have this exact issue w/my mom/remotes/dementia btw!!

I think the killer part is the bespoke part, I’ve posted about this before, but it’s really useful for getting past annoying TOS limitations, for instance. But most people don’t have interesting use cases, and the ability to create anything new or revolutionary is a political-economy problem.

Pretty sure the YouTube recommendation algorithm is bifurcated for paying vs free users. Got premium a few weeks ago and the recos are all 10-15 year old videos that are really, really so much better than what I was being served up before I was paying.
