This bill is one of my proudest accomplishments as State Senator: it set the tone for how I legislate WITH and FOR our communities. That’s the kind of representation we need in Congress right now!
The first bill I ever passed was the Jett Hawkins Act.
Together with Jett and his mother Ida, we banned hair discrimination in all schools statewide because all kids deserve to be unapologetically themselves!
I’m running for Congress to fight for justice for these children who have lost the simple joys childhood is supposed to afford.
Firing Kristi Noem to just replace her with another extremist at DHS will not fix the problem. Midway Blitz, the Minneapolis murders, and the many illegal actions by ICE, CBP, and other agencies have left deep scars in our communities.
The lived experiences and legislative record that I bring are unlike anyone else’s in this race, and that’s what Congress desperately needs right now: a progressive voice who knows how to get things done for people.

The rumors are true: I am a streetlight nerd. In Glenview this weekend I saw an especially unique streetlight that caught my eye — as an advocate for pedestrian safety, and as your next member of Congress, I’ll always have my eye out for all of the little details!
I know what it’s like to grow up in this district, and to struggle here in the way too many households are right now.
In Congress I will be a powerful voice against the Trump Administration and an avid fighter for policy by centering those closest to the pain.
