Just the same way a grade school biology class may teach that reptiles and birds are separate only then to later discover they are
the same. It's gives a great general understanding of non bird dinosaur history, that can later be re-examined.

I describe the series as a great introduction for general audiences tangentially interested in dinosaur as a jumping off point understanding that a lot of the stuff is kindve wrong, but none the less digestible to a general audience
Omg that would've been pretty cold, I like the vision. . .
Much appreciated!
Trying to get back into the swing of things. Here's a little study of a Sugar Glider !

Here the result of the Ein Yabrud quarry #paleostream. An important locality from the Cretaceous of Palestine. While mostly famous for it's marine snakes and early mosasauroids, beautiful fish fossils and rich invertebrate fauna are completing this picture!
Really thought it was over this time. Can't wait for NEW episodes on a REGULAR CONSISTENT BASIS AS PROMISED π€

In 2025 I really got back into traditional media, learned a lot more about working in 3D, and painted many, many dinosaurs. Cheers to 2026, and may we all paint more of what we love #paleoart #dinosaurart #tellmeaboutyourfavoritedinosaur

I don't know who needs to hear this but I am not a fan of the fast food drive in Sonic. . .
a pine tree with bugs hanging all around it. at the very top is a dragonfly-like meganeura with open wings, circling the base is the giant millipede arthropleura. on the branches sit various insects and circular pine cones.
Have yourself a merry little Carboniferous.

A scene depicting the Patagonian scrubland in the early morning, dotted with araucarias and framed by foggy mountains in the background. A pair of Macrauchenia, four guanacos and a patagonian mara are seen among the grass. A Megatherium walks by further away and a crested caracara flies over the scene.

Because I'm a lazy, lazy man, I'm copying text from the start of my Patreon post that describes this scene. If you want to read the rest of the discussion, you need to visit https://www.patreon.com/posts/132334586 (I may be lazy, but I'm not stupid. OK, not _that_ stupid.) "It's nighttime in Early Cretaceous China, in the part of the world that will eventually be recorded as the Yixian Formation. A light dusting of snow covers the winter ground, and only the coniferous trees retain their leaves. The light of a full moon spreads through the misty sky, obscuring distant mountains but illuminating a large dinosaurian predator, Yutyrannus. It is consuming the bloodied remains of a small dinosaur that, from the silhouette, looks to have been a Psittacosaurus. Quietly surrounding the carnivore is a group of eight smaller dinosaurs: compsognathids. Their small size, long, stripy brown tails and facial masks betray them as Sinosauropteryx. They appear to be congregating in the hope of getting access to the Psittacosaurus carcass, some peering around the larger dinosaur at a respectful distance to identify pilferable morsels. The Yutyrannus is ten times their length and towers above them: surely it's best to wait until it's finished? Unless... wait: are these Sinosauropteryx enterprising opportunists, patiently waiting for the larger predator to have their fill? Or are they juveniles waiting for their parent β a tyrannosauroid β to finish with the carcass before they can have access, or even for it to provision them with food? What the heck has actually been depicted here?"
New at #Patreon: discussion of this scene of Sinosauropteryx waiting out a feeding Yutyrannus for carcass access. Or - hold on - are they waiting for their parent to feed them? Behold, the compsognathid identity dispute, now #paleoart flavoured! #sciart #dinosaurs

A scene from Kristianstad in southern Sweden (the Kristianstad Basin) during the late Cretaceous. A pair of pteranodontids trying to keep a healthy distance from an admittedly passive mosasaur (probably a Prognathodon, but could also be a Tylosaurus). Meanwhile, the hesperornithids take a short break from foraging to catch some rays.

The sauropodomorph Glacialisaurus (known from very fragmentary remains) strolls through a dense assemblage of flora at the edge of a forest. The plants are meant to represent Otozamites and Clathropteris. The scene takes place in Early Jurassic Antarctica.
